Today, in the mild stillness at dawn, a song thrush sang for the first time in four months. Nowhere near his full-bodied spring best of course, yet still glorious. I’m reminded of just how much I love his voice, his beauty and exuberance.

A green and gold evening on Wenlock Edge, with the tall grass swaying in the gentle breeze. Last night I walked along the footpath that skirts the edge of this field near Eaton-under-Heywood, taking in the simple sights and sounds of summer. #Shropshire 1/3

After 25 years of campaigning, its a huge win for Puffins, Kittiwakes and marine life.

Will the recent concern about the state of the Oceans produce yet more talk and hand-wringing, or will governments step in and take decisive action by banning bottom trawling and dredging?
