History of language politics in China & Sinophone Asia -- literary feminism and translation history -- Research Fellow, French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) (& 🏊🏻‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️) -- She/her
On #RemembranceDay, my yearly reminder that an estimated 140,000 Chinese men were sent to labour in Europe amidst hefty war casualties, and linking to what remains one of the most touching life stories I've had the privilege to research for @bodleian.ox.ac.uk

Waking up in Asia to the *absolutely unhinged news* that the Collège de France, one of the most venerable French academic institutions, cancelled a conference on the past & present of Europe-Palestine relations after our own Minister for higher education ceded to pressure by Jewish orgs in France

Je me lance 👇🏻

Ditto 34-year-old as a professor. Ask me how I know 😅
A 34-year-old as a politician: My god he's like a baby. It's like they just elected an infant to be their mayor.

A 34-year-old as an athlete: You have to admire the bravery of him attempting that dunk, knowing full well the grim reaper is right behind him.

I never thought growing up that the Dutch I reluctantly learned at school (believe me or not, I hated languages) would come *extremely* handy to read up on the Dutch League of Religious Anarcho-Communists for research on translations of the Harlem Renaissance in Shanghai yet... here I am!

What beats writers block is not treating your body like a factory. What beats writers block is healthcare. What beats writers block is gardening, & rest, & food, & companionship, & reading, & leisure, & anti-capitalism—but of course that’s not a very profitable thing to write, & won’t sell LLMs.

I really didn't mind at all the 18- and 20milers at 5am in 31C/81F degree heat but... we've had heavy tropical storms for a week just as I hit taper, and if I have to do another 5-miler on that 150m indoor track (that's 54 laps, if you ask), I will *scream bloody murder* 🤬😅
