I think the key to this version of US imperialism is the interaction of 1 and 2 here
i think that people really underestimate reality that

1) administration has no doctrine, it is really about a single, mercurial, and half-awake man

2) the administration is a constantly churning system with factions that rise and fall contextually

3) might not have happened if trump tower caracas

I had a very mediocre SAT score and a not great GRE score. People who think either of these things translates to reliable measurement of faculty intellectual merit is a fool. We should, however, test faculty on their ability to make good coffee, clean the seminar room, and wash dishes.
Like, not even GRE scores. SAT scores.

It's the annual cardoon (cardon in French) workshop with my mother in law. It looks like celery but it tastes like artichoke. Apparently it's commonly mostly around Lyon and in parts of North Africa. It's work to grow and prep but is pretty yummy!

Extremism isn’t fringe on the right. Once marginal online extremists like Yarvin are influential at the highest levels of government.

Fantastic piece putting the Bari Weiss Experiment in perspective
As it happens, I have experience with high-level government demands to stop an explosive, accurate story from running, and I also have experience with 60 Minutes spiking a story I was involved in, so I have thoughts about the travesty at CBS. If you want some journalism anecdotes, here are a lot:

Dans la liste il y a "couple".... Marianne veut retourner à une époque où les couples homosexuels n'avaient aucune existence juridique. Les veufs du sida été expulsés de l'apart commun, la famille du défunt héritait tout, pas de droit de visite à l'hôpital...
Marianne n'est pas un titre dont la grille de lecture est presque exclusivement réaco-passéiste. De toute évidence.

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

Trump’s approval is under 40% so naturally the New York Times found a whole bunch of people that support or defend what he’s doing, including a Kamala 2024 voter who regrets his vote lmao

This is the same dynamic which happened to me, a year ago to the day: a faculty appeals panel cleared
me entirely, after a six month investigation. NU effectively ignored it.

This is why adhering to rules (in Congress, the UN, unis) rarely works: the rules benefit the rulers, who can ignore them.
