Global average temperature is expected to rise to almost 2C above preindustrial in the next five years, according to the WMO, with falls in crop yields and more than a third of the world’s population being exposed to extreme heat.

People, I'm sorry but we have to deal with this. Later is too late.

If you subscribe to the housing theory of everything, building more compact cities with
a) plentiful medium density
b) affordable housing for all that suits people's needs, with at least 10-20% of that being social housing
c) mixed-use neighbourhoods
...is fundamental to fixing the below.

It’s funny how people say there’s no point building new housing if it’s going to be market-rate.

But nobody says there’s no point putting AirBnBs back on the market.

A recognition that more market supply means more availability and lower prices.
The Spanish government ordered Airbnb to remove nearly 66,000 listings from its platform, widening a crackdown on tourist rentals as it seeks to alleviate a housing crisis that has become among the worst in Europe.

20 speeding tickets in 1.5h on a single block - now extrapolate that out to the whole city. This is clear evidence that random police checks can't solve this issue. We need automated speed cameras at all high risk intersections.

Bill 15 is sweeping and vague, so it's hard to know how it will work

The government's messaging is, "Trust us! We'll use it judiciously and won't ram controversial projects through."

But even if you believe that, the law would open the door to other governments doing things differently #bcpoli
