The real enemy of this administration is cosmopolitanism. Whether in Los Angeles or South Africa, multiracial pluralistic democracy is a threat to them because it means their “us or them” model of the world is wrong. So they stir up trouble on purpose and gleefully lie.
Kristi Noem calls Los Angeles a “city of criminals”

Took me 20 years to get around to watching Deadwood with the attention and consistency it deserves, and I keenly regret my tardiness.

Now I am saying things like "these cocksuckers appear to be committed to a course of action that I find entirely disagreeable" when someone cuts me off in traffic.

Lots of people are confused about this, but:

IT *IS* STILL POSSIBLE TO FILE FOR UNION ELECTIONS THROUGH THE NLRB

Bosses want us to think we can't hold union elections (because there's no national quorum at the NLRB) but that's just not true

In the 2000s, US Republicans thought about the world in similar ways to Britons, Europeans, Canadians.

This made for productive relationships regardless of who was in the White House.

The moderating layers around Trump #1 masked the divergence, but with Trump #2 it’s glaring.

Seeing your "At Home With Monsters" exhibit was one of the highlights of my life. Truly incredible. Some of the most incredible life-size models I've ever seen were on display there. Your eye for creating such imaginative creatures and monsters must be related to your enjoyment of painting models.
Yes. Every Sunday (If I am not shooting a film) a few friends and I get together and paint model kits. We start at 9:00 AM and I post the process here at BSKY. Feel free to join us (I only post my models, not the others).

Totally normal and acceptable stuff from non-racist conservatives:
Fox News Contributor Katie Pavlich Calls Mehdi Hasan a ‘Terrorist’
Conservative commentator Ryan Girdusky was banned from CNN last October when he implied Hasan, who is Muslim, was a terrorist during a debate.

I love when discussions of potentially real-life folk heroes devolve into debates about which superhero is the best embodiment of a given political ideology. Instead of activating on material issues, we nerd out and argue over bullshit.

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens.

Don’t think it won’t happen again when they come for the “undocumented.”

I have also been thinking about this.

(I don't think I can take credit for the analogy, but I can no longer recall who I might have gotten it from, either.)
I remember years ago @marxinhell.bsky.social writing on fb something to the effect of: "the 20th century's 3 major political ideologies are like rock/paper/scissors. Liberalism beats socialism, fascism beats liberalism, and socialism beats fascism."

I bring that up for no reason in particular.

“fuck you, deported”

“what about my lawyer?”

“ha ha, fuck you, deported”

not enough staff? declare national security threat, take money out of the military budget, who’s gonna stop him

“who’s gonna stop him” is, fundamentally, the key to everything Trump says he will do in the second term
These people really don’t get what happens if Trump takes power again.

Exactly. There's so much to work with, and Biden should just say it. "Hey Donald, remember when you raped someone then lied about her, a jury awarded a hundred million against you, then you lied about her again, and a jury awarded another hundred million against you? You're scum. You're trash."
And then stomped off stage with "I refuse to debate with this rapist, and this guy helped turn over Roe... (fades out)
