i think one of the most difficult things in the world is to be able to recognize and accept "this [practice, relationship, and so forth] saved my life and shaped me in ways i cherish. And now it may not be life-giving to me; if i continue to let it shape me i may not like who i become."

Every parent whose career has to do with online safety also bans Roblox.
Every game designer parent I know bans Roblox for their kids

For over 30 years, the Seattle Aquarium has led in sea otter research, contributed to recovery efforts and cared for northern sea otters who are unable to live in the wild.

Today is a big day as we welcome Ruby—the first southern sea otter in our care. ✨🦦

After being stuck in committee for four years, the Pa. Senate passed the CROWN Act Wednesday with a vote of 44-3.

That means employers and school officials can’t bar people from jobs or schools for wearing their hair as it grows out naturally or choosing styles that protect it.
Passing of the CROWN Act means Pennsylvanians can no longer be fired for wearing Afros, braids, or locs
The act especially impacts Black men and women who are required to cut or straighten their natural hair, often using heat and harmful chemicals.

More accurately, the US founders based our political blueprint on theirs (but then handicapped it in favor of wealthy white men).
Centuries before the American Revolution, Native nations created sophisticated systems to prevent tyranny: consensus councils, balanced leadership and protections for future generations.

Their political blueprint rivals anything the founders designed.

Native American communities were elaborate consensus democracies, many of which had survived for generations because of careful attention to checking and balancing power.

This warrantless home invasion by armed, unidentified immigration agents is the stuff of nightmares.

ICE's recklessness, lawlessness, and impunity puts everyone in danger. This cannot become normalized. ICE's terrorizing of our neighbors must end.

The agents came looking for a relative who no longer lived there and didn't show a warrant or identify themselves. Days later, the children are terrified to leave their parents' sides.

(RNS) — As many as 500 people, a mix of clergy and other volunteers, have appeared at the training sessions on how to counter ICE.
