Checked the roll call (www.congress.gov/votes/house/...) and in MI, nearly all but 1 dem said "Yea" (all repubs were "Yeas.") Do these assholes not understand what socialism is and how it works? If you condemn it, please hand over your SS bennies. Please stop using parks, schools, and roads.
Not two weeks after a democratic socialist is elected mayor of New York City, 86 Democratic House members vote to 'condemn socialism.'

It takes a lot but I'm in genuine shock. I teach an information literacy class on how to use search engines, wikipedia, and social media responsibly as well as I provide over a dozen slides with lists of publicly available databases that are vetted by experts and peer reviewed. 1/

"Jenny, didn't you write those hilarious Fifty Shades of Grey recaps like a decade ago?"

As a matter of fact, I did! And I'm still in the hating game. Join the Jealous Patrons Book Club, and read my snarky recaps. We're currently reading Blood of Hercules.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

Phillipa Gregory (a historian and historical fiction author) wrote a 700 page book, Normal Women, on the history of women in England from 1066 to present. It is BREATHTAKING. I've learned so much and got introduced to so many incredible women. (Gregory has PAGES of resources and references as well.)
People say it's impossible to write a responsible "Big History" book but I think that's false! You would just have to be diligent in reading the literature and systematic in contacting academics to stress-test your conclusions.

The Ted Talk crowd would rather pontificate than do actual work.
3 point plan for success: Read. Listen. Try to get it right.

According to American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Saturday November 22 is International Survivors of Suicide Day. I got an email to events around the state on Saturday to connect and have hope.

Brendan was a selfish fucker and I live with his death every day. I don't need a stupid day.

Apple AI and Siri need to be the same language to be activated. If they are not, Apple AI is not activated. (Source: Me)
Unlike most apps these days, Scrivener does not use AI in any way. However, if you’re on a Mac, you may see an AI prompt.

Not having a book out in 2025 is just, "oh yay! A friend got on a year end list!" and no stress for me. Love it.

Wait, no...I have a book coming out January 13th! Look! It's Mean Girls meets Northanger Abbey. What if Cady and Regina just...kissed, in Regency gowns? Here's the pretty pretty cover!

My heart is aching for Brendan today. Selfish fucker. The anniversary of his suicide is in January. He's missed so much. I haven't finished the current season of a show we both loved because in a way, it feels like I'll lose him all over again.

Fucker.

I'm a bit butthurt because a talk I submitted to the Jane Austen Centre for the festival next year got a lot of good feedback but was rejected. They encouraged me to resubmit if I so choose. I emailed them to see what I needed to do. (No idea how I could swing going if I got accepted. But hey! JAF!)

Let us not forget that libraries, as we know them, are older than Christianity by almost a millennia. (First library opened in 8th C BCE by Ashurbanipal, King of Assyria in Mesopotamia.)

Me and numerous other librarians came up with a project back in the summer of 2012. I created a Twitter, Flickr, Gmail, and Google+ account. I got an email from Google the other day the Gmail account was still active but if I didn't use, it would get expunged. I told Kristin and we laughed merrily.
