Mr. Lisa heard me grumble about my shitty Windows laptop and he said, "Do you want to install Linux on it?" And I never said yes to anything this fast in a long time.

(Thankfully, I kept nothing on my Windows laptop other than software so wiping it as is is fine.)

My 1.5 year old Windows laptop consistently shits the bed while my nearly 4 year old Macbook Air remains amazing. I HATE WINDOWS. HATE IT.

a reminder, again, that AltNPS is a grifter account run by people who have no affiliation with the National Park Service and indeed who never did have any affiliation with the National Park Service. They have no sources, they have no information, they are purely there to scam you.
"Receiving reports" my ass. AltNPS is not receiving reports of ICE raids in Saint Paul. They are seeing posts on social media like the rest of us.

I DO have loved ones in Saint Paul. ALL of my loved ones. They're terrified. Fuck you.

Today marks 366 days since Brendan killed himself so I wrote a dissertation on the last year without him. 👉https://open.substack.com/pub/amostunreliablenarrator/p/amun-issue-229-366-days-later

A year ago today, Brendan committed suicide. Fuck that selfish asshole. I miss you so fucking much.

I'm reading Heated Rivarly while I, myself, identify as queer, I'm not a gay male so I look to what they say. And it's interesting on their presentation that women fetishize MMs but then the opposite argument is MM romances are a safe space for women because it takes danger out of sex for them.

You cannot marry your first cousin in Michigan. You can, however, marry your second cousin and further out.

I'm exhausted.

I use Fluffbusting Purity to strip out crap from FB feed. It's not perfect but it (mostly) works.

Just scrolled through friends feed for the first time in weeks and all I could think about is, "Are you finding sources before you post that?" These bitches are LIBRARIANS.

Yesterday I mentioned that I had to email a few companies to get my name off their mailing list since their Unsubscribe links were broken (as well as broken email addresses on their website). Heard back from one and they had no idea shit was broke. (And they took me of their newsletter.)
January 5, 2026 at 4:08 PM
I have been trying to unsub from DBSA Alliance's newsletter for a week. The link is broken. I emailed info@, per their contact page, and that email does not exist. I emailed other emails listed on their contact page, and two more came back broken. I posted on their FB/IG my issues. Will I hear back?

Vet called NYE that Thursday's liver proteins were elevated and told me to call today to discuss "game plan." I called a few hours ago and she hasn't called back yet. (Probably after her day is done.) I swear to god if that dog is ill, I'm burning 2026 down to the ground.

I'm going to go make cake.

I succumbed and started the first book in the series, "Game Changers," and it's...not good. The sex scenes could be reduced to, "tell me you're not a gay guy by not telling me you're a gay guy."

THIS IS WHY SENSITIVITY READERS EXIST!

Do women love "Heated Rivalry" too much?
The female fans who led the charge in making the gay hockey romance a hit are also the ones policing its subjects.

It's January 1 which means it's Public Domain Day!

Over at The Blog of Nerd Girl Industries, I give a brief history of PDD, examples of what's in the PDD, links to Duke's partial lists of what's in the PDD< and of course, RESROUCES!

My 90DF commrade in arms, Erika, said she changed her sheets and took a shower before bed last night so 2026 started out fresh and clean. I drank and had a gummie before bed. Hopefully my year does not become shite!

(Did get a pedi today and my toes are a very medium blue.)

Mr. Lisa and I were going to go into town to see Dead Snow (killer nazi zombies) tonight but weather is miserable. So! I'm drinking (cocoa bean vodka + faygo cream soda), and fucking up WordPress. Dinner will be luxury nachos (because they have queso) and some kind of movie night.

I have 9 images but looks like Bluesky only takes 4? Anyway, some stats from Goodreads for my reading in 2026. 133/100 so far and on track to finish one more before tomorrow night.

I wrote a dissertation over on IG about my reading plans for 2026, so, what are YOUR reading plans for 2026? #Booksky

Being on Bluesky is a double-edged sword: It's giving me 2010 Twitter vibes where I'm making friends, dropping my knowledge, & having conversations. However, who I follow is curated mainly by news orgs and journalists so I get a feel for the world currently (shit storm, etc).

In short: We got Rick-Rolled by Rian Johnson and we love him even more for it.
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I'm not a fan of some librarians posting this but of course I want to add my 2 cents:

As a librarian, of COURSE I want people to have cards and use the services. BUT, I'm also a big fan of teaching info lit and doing research responsibly, which this article doesn't touch on. 1/

Ugh. So, NGI now has NGI TV with episode 0 just released. It's posted all over my socials which includes Threads and X. I did not want to have those accounts but I have clients who are and you can't do much if you're not logged in.

If you want to see the video check out the socials 👉🏻 nerdgirl.net.

The next issue of my personal newsletter, January 11, is on Brendan's suicide. The issue after that, January 25, begins with a deep dive and analysis of Heated Rivarly. I assume my audience is inline with my progressive views but that does not mean that discussing suicide and m/m sex will sell.

Mr. Lisa estimates we got about 6” between midnight and 8 am with another 4” today. The snow was up to Thursday’s chin so he created an area for her to do her thing. Don’t know how Mr Lisa figured out or read a leaf blower rocks socks in the winter but here we are!
