Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

Jeanne Shaheen has been selling out her constituents since she was governor and failed to fix our education funding formula when she had the chance, I don’t know why we keep voting for her

Thinking about this again after seeing a post from a cycling/running influencer about hosting a canned food drive at a run club event. It's a nice thought, don't get me wrong, but why not just ask everyone to chip in $20? Or better yet, donate directly to a particular food bank!
This post from @womenspf.bsky.social nails how food bank donations are a microcosm of American views on poverty and safety net programs. Every food bank says, "Just give us money!" and well-meaning people say, "No, instead I'll donate boxes of cereal!" People can't just give money to poor people.

I had student meetings yesterday for my class. It was a writing class so most meetings started with my comments on their papers, but I told them they could ask about anything. Some asked for advice for gap years, how to choose the next career step, even audio books :) my favorite question was...🧵

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

More folks who’ve felt the pressure of student loans, who’ve squeezed onto public transportation, who have a library card, who’ve been stuck on hold while disputing a health insurance claim. Regular ass people who aren’t afraid to talk their shit and stand up for what’s obviously right and good.
Authenticity wins. McKinsey ass dem strategists need to fuck off. Car service ass leadership needs to step down.

Look, I'm not gonna tell other cities and states exactly what's gonna work for them.

But I would LOVE to see Mamdani's victory speech played before focus groups in Texas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Montana.

LET'S JUST SEE, HUH?
This is a landslide. The last NYC mayoral candidate to clear 1 million votes was John Lindsay—over 50 years ago. It will be dismissed by pundits saying it can only happen in New York. That's garbage. Think pledging to freeze rent and offer childcare won't resonate in Nevada? Wisconsin? Texas?

This is really important. Like, I'm pretty left, and very woke (different axis). But I am 100% here for the broad coalition, the popular front, against MAGA. Bulwark-Liberal Currents-Zeteo Alliance.
The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

Hearing MSNBC say that you couldn't run Mamdani anywhere other than NYC because it's "cosmopolitan" is so frustrating. He could win in Chicago. He could win in Portland. He could win in LA.

Bernie, AOC, and Elizabeth Warren are very popular among Democrats across the nation. Move to the left!

This commission goes from 5-0 GOP to 3-2 GOP.

What this means: Democrats now have a path to flip the commission in 2026.

A pair of races are crystallizing issues with fair representation in Georgia: officials who stay in their seats years past their term, low-turnout runoffs, and the diluted power of Black voters.
