Okay. I am cranky on a lot of levels today, so.

But I got a comment on another platform that said, "you are going to save us in the future. Libraries and librarians are the backbone of society."

Let me tell you why I hated this seemingly innocuous comment.

Ask your friendly academic librarian about all the times we tried to tell you that what we do is important and you should fund it. You get the services you pay for, friends.
Lolololol at every academic who has paid zero attention to their library or constantly-decreasing library funding suddenly being like LIBRARIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING EVERYTHING THEMSELVES AND OUTSOURCING NOTHING like we all have teams of programmers and software engineers.

Chicago Public Library lovers: after a lot of calls, letters and visits to your alders, we got the library levy raised and restored the collections budget to $10 million. This year we were able to avoid cuts! In a contentious budget season, there is one thing we can agree on: libraries need funding.

Unrelated to the text but related to the image, I shared with coworkers a favorite holiday film of mine was The Addams Family, and described the opening scene, which is depicted in the image. They were a little shaken.

Good. They should know I’m weird.
Rather, that song has a lot of verses. Nevertheless, it was very sweet & charming to have carolers. In an unrelated note, I hope I’ve never sent any of them a holiday card to this effect. But I probably have.

My father died, ultimately, from congestive heart failure. I’m not saying this is what the president has, BUT weeks before his death, my dad dozed off like this, often while being actively in a conversation. Heart failure means reduced blood—and oxygen—flowing to the brain. It starts as sleepiness.
Trump start to doze off and then jerks awake

Today, we're learning why DOJ didn't release the redacted files last March. Because the multitude of redactions exposes how much they're covering up.

When someone is alive and especially if they use their career to do harm, that’s a whole other kettle of fish. Allen, Polanski, etc.

But a lot of stuff is academic if everyone is dead.

And the stuff that ISN’T academic (BOAN, Riefenstahl, etc) absolutely should be discussed. Know the difference

This is the perfect ratio for cheese:cracker.
I need a cracker that’s thin with seeds on it and a piece of cheese that’s thick

I need a thin and thick

This piece from Block Club is excellent for showing which Chicago alders are terrible concerning ICE.

But, I must add that it isn't great at highlighting which alders are not involved in on-the-ground support. Every alder *without* a green whistle icon should be seen as half-assing the threat.

The situation right now is developing fast; Border Patrol is detaining people across SW side.

Community members are following their caravan. Agents are threatening people who film with pepper ball and tear gas dispensers.

It's going to take time for rapid response to tally arrest totals.

Rev. David Black raised a stark warning: people are being held, transferred, and deported with little transparency and the public knows almost nothing about the conditions they while in detention.

2. Our government is a joke. Too late? TOO LATE? By my count, there are still 15 days until the end of the year.
