North Carolina has really shown out. Comrades are telling me that they have gotten 500 to 1000 people out to ICE Watch trainings [with more people wanting to attend].

It continues to bother me how much Leopold II, one of the most evil men of all time and a ghoul on par with Hitler, is so completely ignored

i don't wanna live in this future
One thing I appreciate about this AI moment: our fuck-no refusal is inspiring a lot of us to take the time & energy to carefully articulate what it is we value & believe. Perhaps we’re also finding new ways to say we love each other & humanity & to affirm all that it is possible to do together.
Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

If ppl actually practiced solidarity w/ disabled ppl &masked, this wouldn't happen. The left's embrace of eugenics ensures this outcome; lack of solidarity reinforces vulnerability. As long as the left refuses to grapple w/ its eugenics problem our so-called anti-fascist movement exists in name only
Can’t lie all the normies standing around gawking and filming rather then screaming their fucking heads off at these fascist cops doesn’t make me feel great! Y’all didn’t give these violent men an ounce of trouble?? They should have had NO PEACE while doing this.

This is worth sitting with.

Just for instance, I know who gave me the infection that left me bedbound. It does happen. This isn’t an abstraction.
Do you know how many people aren’t protesting today because you’ve disabled or killed them with covid? Real uncomfortable question, I know.

What would you do if you knew your personal number (of people you’ve disabled or worse)? Would it matter?

dnc dems aren't fascist?
Democratic Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer appeared at a Trump rally and expresses how grateful she is and thanks Trump while speaking at the event.

She's selling out her state to fascism.

resist what? what are their demands? what are their next concrete actions? /genuine.
NEW: Crowd now growing at the Capitol where Cory Booker and Hakeem Jeffries are staging a sit-in on the steps.

Is this building into something?

If you’re in DC, they’re encouraging folk to come down there & support.

"Abolish ICE" and "defund the police" are both reasonable and correct on the merits but were absolutely neutered by centrists smearing them as radical activist overreach.
"ICE is a rogue federal agency operating with impunity-destabilizing families, terrorizing neighborhoods, and eroding the very principles of justice it claims to defend. What happened yesterday ... is not an accident-it is the deliberate outcome of a system sliding deeper into authoritarianism."
Providence City Councilor Justin Roias: “Yesterday, ICE tased & detained a Providence resident with a pregnant U.S. citizen wife & a green card interview that same day.”

I also want to note than I’m a regular person. I have a 9-5. I do live with my partner, so another income helps. I have $300 in savings, and the reality is that I will probably empty that in a week or two. I absolutely get the risk. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was scared

Another example is, “Good news. Your tests are all normal.” We explain that this might not be viewed as “good news” to a patient who still feels sick. An alternative is, “The tests we have run so far are not showing any abnormalities, and the good news is we have excluded certain conditions”

doing evil things because someone told you to do them does in fact make you evil.

if you need to tell someone you're not evil but are just following orders, you need to not follow the orders. this is pretty straightforward.

I know you aren't going to want to hear this but the reason the system can deport Mahmoud Khalil and send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is that for years we've been executing factually innocent people like Marcellus Williams and sending legally innocent people to places like Riker's Island.

there is no fact-based evaluation that does not hold George W. Bush and Barack Obama partly responsible for where we are with Trump. For decades we let these guys extend the power of the executive and no one with power ever pushed back. We are reaping those consequences now.
This is their argument. In court. Not just a theory.

We've reached the point in our descent into fascism where the Jewish governor's house getting firebombed on Passover by a guy trying to bash his head in with a sledgehammer is overshadowed by the story of the President saying he wants to build foreign gulags for US citizens.

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

in so much news coverage there’s still this sense of propriety and decorum in the face of an outright assault on our civil and human rights. i just want to remind journalists that your politeness will not save you—so you might as well say what you really mean.
