The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #least, meaning a bird you don’t see very much. It’s always a treat for me to see a #NorthernFlicker. Merlin tells me they’re here far more often than I spot them.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #fighting, and let this be a lesson to you: Never mess with a Goldfinch.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #underrated — birds that don’t get the appreciation they deserve.

We don’t have a patch, but we hope the Great Pumpkin will recognize the sincerity inherent in our lone pumpkin.

Today’s alternate #BirdOfTheDay theme is “funny,” so here’s a Red-bellied Woodpecker playing peekaboo.

Today’s alternate #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ducks. Here are a bunch of them, though the picture doesn’t do them justice.

My girlfriend’s back!

Though the male Red-bellied Woodpeckers visit daily, she has been hard to find this summer. Hopefully, now that nesting season is over, she’ll be around a lot more. (Don’t tell the others she’s my favorite.)

This #sunlit Pine Warbler is today’s #BirdOfTheDay. They don’t come around here much, so it was a real treat to see this one.

My #BirdOfTheDay entry for the theme #raptors is a bit of a cheat. This summer, I watched WBU’s Barred Owl Cam obsessively, from the time the owlets hatched until they fledged. My phone is filled with screenshots of them through every stage of development. I still miss them. 🦉🪶

Found this guy on my front step eating the decorative mums, so now I have to go to the clearance rack at the garden store and stock up on discount mums to help him bulk up before he hibernates.
