Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice In Chains.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Wild how every single member of the political and business elite went into full drooling fascism the second the prospect of consequences for abhorrent behavior started to seem possible
My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

My latest column for the Chronicle of Higher Ed is now live. It's an argument for including AI-critical voices in campus conversations and policymaking workgroups, and I'm proud to get this dissenting piece into the mainstream genAI/higher ed discourse. Please read and share if you're so inclined 🙂
Advice | Sometimes We Resist AI for Good Reasons
Why higher ed needs to listen to the contrarians in setting policies on using tools like ChatGPT in faculty work.

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

I told myself I wouldn't do a snap reaction to Ezra Klein's noxious editorial. I said, "If you're still mad about it on Monday, then you can write about it."

I'm still mad about it!

James Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, is dead.

He left behind broken homes, traumatized children, and a movement that treats cruelty as a commandment.

James Dobson, an architect of evangelical Christian cruelty, is finally dead at 89

@drstaceypatton.bsky.social on James Dobson:

"His brand of 'Christian childhood' was nothing more than a polished continuation of the centuries-old practice of breaking children’s bodies and spirits to keep them obedient, submissive, and useful to authoritarian systems."
