Trans Day of Remembrance is an occasion I've always struggled with. There have been several dozen suicide attempts in my life, some of them recent, many because of transphobia. Would I have been remembered? Even if I was, that I would be another death in a wider statistic was hardly comforting.

I use the term transsexual to describe myself because it feels - and critically, I am only referring to how it feels *for me* - more congruent with, and ultimately better equipped to describe my experience than other words. That’s it. That’s the sole reason.

The way Brianna Ghey's death played out will always upset me.
There have been a lot of tragedies these past few years and we'll see even more, but there's something about the way the press, politicians and family continue to cynically abuse her memory that fills me with such deep sadness.
