Yes! Brian’s first book is tremendous.
Very excited to share the cover for my next book, HANNIBAL LECTER: A LIFE, coming in February from Simon & Schuster! It's about how Thomas Harris created one of the most beloved bad guys of all time, and a look at the making of such hits as THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, MANHUNTER, and NBC's HANNIBAL.

Good reminder that I need to cancel my subscription.
It's amazing that Bezos is just fine with this and continues to push pro-Trump propaganda anyway

Today is my first day as a sports writer at @cnn.com. I'll be covering all sports, not just baseball (but also baseball, see you back at the ballpark come spring!) and I want to dig in especially on the weird, the niche, the nontraditional, and youth sports. So get at me with stories in that realm.

There are many words I find objectionable, but "gifted" has to be near the top of the list. Verbing is a friggin' plague.

i know there's a lot of sinister and disgusting things about these choads naming their operation "charlotte's web" but you gotta realize that none of these orcs have read a book since grade school so their choices are pretty limited

From Hang Time to Prime Time is one of the best NBA books I've read and focuses on all of the off-court stuff that hasn't been as discussed when it comes to the growth of the league. If you want to understand the NBA as a business, this book tells that story as well as any that I've come across.
Still $8! Cheap!

Sick to my stomach that the President being mixed up with a horrifying global network of pedophiles is considered a 'voter issue' and not something the whole world needs to know about and people need to be prosecuted for.

Only reason anyone would want people to ignore Epstein is if you're involved
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...
Force A Referendum On The Epstein Coverup
It divides Republicans much more than "affordability" or any other economic issue.

You need an appendectomy

How much is that

Umm … $47,285

How much without the anesthesia

Ok we can do that for $36,210

I don’t think so

What’s it going to take to get you into this OR today

I’m going to shop around

Hold on, my manager is coming over
TRUMP: We’re going to give Americans the money to buy health insurance

REPORTER: But won’t they buy it from
Insurance companies?

TRUMP: Ahhh. Some may. I mean they’ll be negotiating prices

I’m gonna release the same statement when David Remnick retires from The New Yorker.
Ok, but was this a thing? Were there actual rumors about this?

Ding, ding, ding!
I will no doubt read and enjoy all your very good Nuzzi jokes, but I also want to say earnestly, so many of us (myself included) are on the verge of being pushed out of this industry and it's genuinely so dispiriting to see the worst among us, ethics-wise, get such preferential treatment.

There's way too much NYT discourse on here already but re: The Big Olivia Nuzzi Feature, I am pretty squarely against the Times thing of doing a long feature story about someone disreputable and doing it in that kind of arch "get a load of this asshole" tone. It's still a big feature about them!

Meanwhile, the position of executive editor at the Lexington Herald-Leader was eliminated by McClatchy as a cost-cutting measure.

This industry makes no sense.
That time my career was over and I had to disappear so I moved to one of richest neighborhoods in one of most media saturated cities in world to hobnob with media elites who offered me fabulous jobs without questions while I prepared for glam photo shots in major papers. We’ve all been there.

And a screenplay by Richard Russo.
#NowWatching - TWILIGHT, one of my favorite movies of the ‘90s. Can’t beat a cast that’s headlined by Paul Newman, Susan Sarandon, and Gene Hackman, and co-stars James Garner, Reese Witherspoon, Liev Schreiber, Stockard Channing, Giancarlo Esposito, Margo Martindale, John Spencer and M. Emmet Walsh.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
