Not a criticism of this (excellent!) thread, or Casten in particular, but I do think Democrats need to start laying out clear, definitive and escalatory steps they plan to take in response if/when SCOTUS goes through with this.
The 14th Amendment says that all people born in America, regardless of race are citizens and have a right to equal protection under the law. For SCOTUS to be remotely confused on that text speaks to their racism, not the Constitution (1/3) www.cnn.com/2025/12/05/p...

By the way, we’re gonna need to do this fast. Everybody in Silicon Valley with a clearance needs to piss in a cup within 48 hours of the new Democratic administration taking office.
A future D Secretary of Defense - should one ever come - will need to suspend the clearance of every last person affiliated with a16z, 8VC, Founders, & Sequoia and pull clearances from every portfolio company pending comprehensive drug testing, financial review, & CI screening.

Speaking of queer anarchism, I'm kinda thinking of getting a flower tattoo with a black rose and a bundle of lavender. Dual purpose of "mourning lost queer lives" and queer anarchism.

i posted about this in a different context but mutual aid networks are also a lifeline for trans people and between the tech layoffs hitting trans people and minorities particular hard, purging military and tying to across goverments those networks have definitely gotten devastated
"Demeaning" trans people is exactly right. Their goal--and what they're most able to easily achieve--is our humiliation. The imposition of indignities. They also hope that, as humiliations often do, it exposes us to ridicule. Perhaps even violence. (e.g. forcibly outing people on their IDs).
It's really frustrating that a lot of the media just sort of frames the Trump admin as "wading into a hot debate over trans issues that have roiled american politics" when it's like, clear that they are motivated by a desire to demean trans people

With all that's going on, it's nice to have something unabashedly good to talk about. And RCCS - Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society - is definitely that. Cancer sucks. But they do amazing work supporting patients and families, helping them navigate not just treatment but logistics. Please help support it!
