This scene captures the quiet magic of Tokyo’s unplanned, human-scaled backstreets—where cars are welcome only as guests, weaving their way gently through pedestrians and cyclists. Streets like these remind us that vibrancy and human connection are at the heart of every truly liveable, lovable city.

Folks are terrified of the NYC subway, think DC is a gang ridden hellscape and have other often irrational fears, but here's the truth, other than disease or an abusive partner with a gun, you're most likely to be killed by a reckless driver, and we barely acknowledge it's a problem.

obsessed with this vague notice from the government of Nova Scotia. Like it’s definitely about the new fire restrictions, but it also looks like a poster you’d find yellowed and curled on the bulletin board of a diner in a town where locals won’t talk about their missing kids

Rail seems to be all people want to talk about, but the difference a little bit of investment in our intercity bus network could make in Nova Scotia should not be dismissed.
Buses: 17

Taking this one to North Sydney! This bus is packed - possibly sold out. Maritime Bus has been consistently busy despite buses that often don't have working amenities...goes to show that dense towns, good network design, and cheap prices go a long way!

I swear I remember watching some CBC made for TV movie 30 odd years ago that posited the EU and USA fighting a war over Canada (because of Quebec separation?) and thought it was the dumbest thing ever at the time. Now, not so much.

Once you recognize that widening roads always leads to more congestion, the case for (de)congestion pricing + transit investment is obvious.

But if you need a study, here's a study:

Congestion pricing could be the only path to managing gridlock
Transportation agencies in the U.S. spend billions of dollars each year expanding highways to ease gridlock. Yet commute times have increased 20% over the last 50 years and traffic congestion is still...
