Graham Platner is blunt, even proud, about how he’s benefitted from government programs. He went to college on the GI Bill. His healthcare is free—paid for by four tours in Iraq & Afghanistan.

"But watching your friends die as the bar to meet for decent healthcare is disgusting.” trib.al/ohYlK9C

China is rushing forward with 21st century energy while the United States is doubling down on 19th century energy
China's Clean Energy Boom Could Win the Race to Power the Future (Gift Article)
Beijing is selling clean energy to the world, Washington is pushing oil and gas. Both are driven by national security.

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

Many of the people who voted for America's political disaster are paying no attention to the unfolding disaster. They don't follow the news. They think the libs are getting owned and that's enough for them. They're clueless about the damage they've done to everyone, including themselves.

A Christianity that is offended by someone advocating for the poor, the immigrant, the hungry, the sick, the marginalized, and the oppressed, is a Christianity that is offended by Jesus.

Therefore, it is no longer Christianity.

First ports, then truckers, then stores.

A lot of the public won't notice that a lot of stuff isn't moving, but they'll notice when something they want to buy simply isn't there, or is rarer and a lot more expensive than they thought.

Give it a few weeks. Should be unignorably big this summer.

Used this analogy when explaining to the teen, but to point out that in the end, when the hyenas realize Scar has destroyed everything, they turn on him. Simba doesn't kill him; his own underlings tear him apart.
Our government feels like when Scar took over after Mufasa died. Just a bunch of ecological damage and hyenas running around this mf.

From my visit last week to the Topaz Internment Camp, where Fred Korematsu was interned. This quote still sticks with me.
I think I’m going to be thinking about this quote from Gordon Hirabayshi on the walls of the museum for a long time.

I really do think we’re well beyond this point.

If you pretend that your differences with friends and coworkers and family are about “politics” when in fact they’re about right versus wrong and fascism versus the rule of law, you’re doing your country a grave disservice.

I don't think Americans can comprehend how permanent the damage from the last 3 months has been. Brexit is probably the closest comparison. Even if the Trump admin was booted out of office tomorrow, we're looking at at least a generation of recovery to get back to "normal". This is just life now.
