What do you think about children being detained by Trump in facilities where they have to fight for clean drinking water?
Where the water is cloudy, smells & upsets stomachs & the soap for showers causes rashes & they have to sleep on concrete floors?

Why don’t Labour's workers’ and renters’ rights reforms cut through to voters - and how should they? - LabourList
Why aren’t even life-changing, flagship policies cutting through, and what can Labour do? LabourList asked a string of MPs and communication, polling and policy experts.

It was always obvious.

While going through the proofs for "The British General Election of 2024" (out very soon!) I came across this - Paul Johnson of the IFS's verdict on Labour's manifesto last year. Labour's current attempts to claim the need to break their tax pledges was impossible to forsee don't stack up

Want to know why the prisons system seems to be suddenly falling apart?
Well, it's not sudden. It's just suddenly being REPORTED. This rot was a deliberate policy choice, and I kept the receipts. Because I'm not the BBC.

This is brilliant, always good to see Farage taken down a peg or two, thank you, Rep. Jamie Raskin. 👍
This deserves revisiting – Farage squirms as Rep. Jamie Raskin obliterates the "Putin-loving, free speech imposter, Trump sycophant."
Please share as widely as possible. We need an antidote to media promotion and protection of Farage.

It’s easy to see why Trump wants to destroy the world’s number one news source. We can’t let him.
The BBC belongs to all of us here in the UK.
The Prime Minister and leaders from across the political spectrum should be united in telling Trump to keep his hands off it.

Once again the 2 way 'Brexit split' in the UK shows itself through the attitudes of our social media sites.
BlueSky & Threads are generally open minded enough to give our elected govt a chance to set things right, whereas X & Facebook are pretty much influenced by right wing propaganda.

It does feel a quite stark example of 'politics on easy mode' that the Tories got 14 years of leeway to screw up the economy and Labour don't even get a year to try to fix it
After Liz Truss's mini-budget, just 15 per cent of people felt the Tories were the best party at handling the economy
Today, the equivalent figure for Labour is 12 per cent

Another very pertinent fact that I have not seen mentioned ANYWHERE: In 14 years of Tory rule we had 14 Prisons Ministers - six in a single year, at one point - and a total of 11 Justice Secretaries, including Grayling, Raab, and Truss. In 13 years of Labour it was three: Irvine, Falconer, Straw. 🤔

Today in the UK is Remembrance Day, when we honour and thank those who defended us against fascism in World War II.
The day also commemorates the First World War. This senseless slaughter had no such clear objective. Few came home. Wilfred Owen, himself killed in 1918, wrote of them...

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️
