I'm in the UK!
Cat & nature lover. Truth seeker, not scaremonger. Not a fan of Tories, nor of racism, Brexit & right wing ideology. Pragmatic..this is the real world (sadly).
Another thing..
It's pretty hard to believe that a guy who is prepared to walk in & take over another country is about to let the Epstein files stop him!

Listen carefully, I shall say this only once...
The UK govt has not condoned Trump's actions in Venezuela.
Nor do they recognise his claim on Greenland.
Once again, Trump has put the UK in the middle of a political minefield. No hasty movements, just a need to find a diplomatic way through it.

And for the peace deal in Gaza - however bad we might think that is going, the US remains a key player in keeping ANY hope alive there. If the US pulls out support, Israel goes back in and takes it all over, causing more suffering.

This is the fine line the government have to walk on.

An actual fair, balanced piece with a sensible headline in the Guardian for once.

It's easy for people sitting on the sidelines to accuse the US of breaking international law.

It's much harder for NATO members who still repy on US protection to do so.

Morning all.
Trump continues to spread mayhem, corruption & pure madness around the globe. More like an invasive dictator each day.
Yet much of said globe is publicly defending another previously criticised dictator being forcibly removed at the same time. Diplomatic nightmare.
Make it make sense.

Collection of useful positive stats and announcements made in recent days. 2026 promises to be the year a lot of Labour changes start to bed in. It’s good to have a hard working, stable government.

Councils.

Every time some foreign news issue breaks there is a certain section of the population which immediately starts demanding its public & official condemnation, regardless of the diplomatic situation between them & the UK. To me this is just impetuosity rather than the statesmanship we actually need.

He also gives us hope for 2026.

We will start to really notice the change the Labour government have been working on with many of their early plans coming in to force.

He says that more of us will start to feel the change: in living standards & our public services.

I know some have already!

I hear the PM had a really good interview on the BBC this morning.

I've not watched yet, but the PM has shared clips on Instagram.

He gets that people are frustrated with the pace of change, but also we need to understand he's doing things the right way.

Seems LK was unable to interupt him!

My new year's resolution is going to have to be telling anyone who thinks a change of PM would currently benefit the UK in any way to give their heads a wobble...& that's the polite version.

Who will be the legal body who officially declares Trump's Venezuela actions to be against international law, & in all honesty what would they even be able to do about it if so?

The UK is always weak on issues requiring the US to be criticised. It's not a Starmer problem, it's a post-WW2 problem that every UK PM has had to confront and deal with.

If you think Davey or Polanski would do any different if they were PM, you're not being honest with yourself.

People say that Labour need to talk more about their achievements.

Well here is a short clip (shared by Labour on Instagram) of the PM listing many achievements during his interview broadcast on the BBC this morning.

As they get more work done, it will become easier and easier to do this.

Once again Starmer is placed in a difficult diplomatic position by the actions of Trump.
Important to note that UK criticism of Maduro regime is nothing new, the UK took no part in this & our PM is waiting for all the facts before jumping in feet first 👏

Morning all.
Can someone please make sense of this Trump/Venezuela issue for me? From a 'just woken up' point of view it looks like Trump's removed a foreign leader to take over the country's resources, upset China & made Americans less safe overnight 🤷

Over Christmas I have done the usual slobbing about, eating & drinking, & I've bloody well enjoyed it!
And having my wonderful family around me becomes more & more important as the years go by.
Of course the couple of pounds I've put on will have to go somehow, but
at my age I don't aim to get slim!
