This is insane. And he’s doing it in the name of America. But where the heck is America? America is 300,000,000+ people and yet… we hear barely a peep.

EU trade or visas measures in response to Trump could be adopted by a qualified majority, so ultimately this spineless sycophancy can't block much
💥Viktor Orbán’s foreign minister Péter Szijjártó says Hungary is BLOCKING a joint EU statement on Greenland.

After years acting as a Trojan horse for Russia and China, Budapest now does the same for Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Orbán ally Andrej Babiš’s Czech government also refuses to back Denmark...

There is is something very important to bear in mind when looking at Reform's drop in the polls in Wales.

Yes, their vote share has dropped...BUT... this doesn't mean that fewer people are supporting them...

A magazine that excused violent neo-Nazis is now endorsing the distribution of CSAM
We don’t need a yet-more-policed X; we need an X where only direct exhortations towards violence (all those death threats to J.K. Rowling, for example) – often accompanied by ‘doxxing’, or publishing someone’s personal information – are rigorously punished.

Addressing Europe's security dependence on the US really isn't about money. It is about a massive reorganization of European militaries so they can act and fight as Europe. Right now they all just dock into the US motherboard. Spending more is needed now but doubt 3.5% is necessary w/ major reform
A thousand times this.
If we want to take defence spending from circa 2.5% of GDP to circa 3.5-4% of GDP the question isn’t “how do we pay for it?”. That’s the easy bit - a combination of taxes and borrowing.
The real question is about real resources and what do we want to do less of?
There's a lot of talk about rearmament and breaking US dependence. I understand the logic completely. But I wonder if people have fully absorbed the economic/consumption implications of serious rearmament, especially when we also consider the state of public opinion and the information environment.

It's clear Starmer is liaising closely with the EU at the Commission and member state level. He is not freelancing. This is all being coordinated. That is important to remember in all of this.

2026 is going to be a very dark year for US foreign policy, where everything that was built over many decades by leaders for collective security is torn apart by one madman, but only because people in his own party remain silent.

Having seen so many Americans demanding the UK, Europe and Canada slap Trump into line, I'd question why the US Constitution has any amendments.

In fact, why bother having a Constitution at all? Looks like you've all spent years at school swearing allegiance to some toilet paper at this point.
He's demanding control over a sovereign nation because they didn't give him THE NOBEL PRIZE. Why the actual fuck do we have a 25th Amendment?

Every country's (and company's) approach to Trump - survive. Flattery with little intention to implement unless forced. Rinse and repeat. But still keep the red lines whether regulatory or territorial.

That's not appeasement because nobody can change the US President.

Oh but the Chinese stood up to the US... yes, and still face a tariff considerably higher than that faced by Europe.

And you don't untangle 80 years of inter-dependence overnight. Not least when life and livelihood are at stake.

Sorry, Europe hasn't "appeased" the US. This media talk doesn't seriously reflect reality. Officials and most likely leaders are well aware of who they are dealing with. There just aren't any great answers which make it all better straight away.

5️⃣ He's going to do it for grand strategy reasons I've invented.
