backroads, camping, painting, plants, sewing.
I got into the personal curriculum thing a bit and set myself the goal of doing research and art for a fairly simple educational poster.

And I haven't. I've been doing a lot of scrolling.

Time to focus back on the art and research!

'Face of the Moon.' (1797) John Russell was the finest British pastel artist of his time. One of his sitters, the astronomer William Herschel encouraged him to buy a telescope, and with this he produced a number of remarkable pastel drawings of the moon.

In other news, my updated budget spreadsheet is great, as long as I use it. (It's the second part that's a struggle.)

I want to go outside today but the forest park is at the edge of my current walking radius, and my car window is smashed so I can't drive there. It's making me pouty.

HOLY SHIT. They found the genes for fibromyalgia - and it's *not* autoimmune, it's the central nervous system. It's very cool to see some progress made on the thing that's ruined my life since late teenage years!
Medical Republic: 'Fibromyalgia finally gets a genetic fingerprint'

'Additionally, certain risk loci overlapped with long covid (BPTF) and ME/CFS (OLFM4, RABGAP1L/GPR52), two poorly characterised disorders, albeit with different lead variants.'

The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

My laundry is done, I have stew cooked and in the fridge, my favourite book out of the library, and some blackberry shrub that tastes like summer.

Had fun yesterday. Drove out to Soo Falls and tested my new tires. Saw the Whistler trainwreck site. Some beautiful mountains. It was a good day.

Phew. Rough night. More ache. Less sleep.

I should probably have food, that will help with the more Advil situation I find myself in.

My teeth are brushed and I've swished with saline, and that is honestly an amazing feeling.

This is, I think, similar to how I feel. Sure, go with she or they. No issues here. But my actual gender thoughts and feelings are ongoing, and intensely private.

However, if people ask, I'm happy to say, "oh, she is fine." If people press, I'm also happy to fully nope out of the situation.
this is interesting. i strongly prefer for someone to assume my pronouns. i also think there is assumption that pronouns and gender are same thing when one is what you prefer to be called and one is what you actually are. in other words it is okay to want to be called the technically ‘wrong’ thing
hot take: I think we should go back to assuming peoples pronouns. if we get it wrong, we should be corrected, say "thank you for correcting me", and not get it wrong again.

Today's major win was chicken and gravy. I made my own gravy mix, and made it with some finely chopped chicken and chicken broth I had found in the freezer. With instant mashed potatoes. Oh, and I added dried squash to the gravy. Yum.

I made tiny stelline noodles in chicken broth with a spoon of dried powdered squash, and then drizzled in an egg at the end. Easy enough to eat with no chewing, somewhat balanced, and nicely salty. A+ food choice.

Note to self: take more pain meds before the ones you previously took run out. You're allowed more every 6 hours. Don't wait for pain, that's silly.
