Had fun yesterday. Drove out to Soo Falls and tested my new tires. Saw the Whistler trainwreck site. Some beautiful mountains. It was a good day.

Camping!! (Off the Trunk Road in AB, south of Nordegg.)
Blue skies with a few fluffy clouds. Hills in the distance. There is a car in the mid-foreground. Different trees and bushes dot a meadow around and behind the car. I took the photo standing on a slight rise looking down and across. It was a "jeep road" to get there, but just behind me was easier access and also a treed meadow with picnic tables and fire rings. Would be a beautiful spot to camp at.

This morning is below 10c and I am so cold I'm procrastinating on getting dressed and making coffee. After a couple days of 30+c, brrrr.

Yesterday was warmer, and I saw hoodoos and rock art.
Hoodoos. Soft sandstone that has been sculpted into formations under caps of harder sandstone, resulting in mushroom like formations. The soft sandstone also has many cavities in it that have been worn down through erosion. Is there a petroglyph or pictograph in this image? It's hard to see. A lot of the rock art in the public areas was difficult to distinguish.

I posted on inaturalist looking for an ID, but I have to share!! Yes, a spider caught a bumblebee!!
A white spider with grey markings on its sides has caught an orange rumped bumblebee. The spider is much smaller than the bee, and they are on a pink globular flower called sea thrift. The background is leaves and dirt.

When corn dollies were mentioned I started laughing so hard at the corn cult comments. Because here I am, in urban western Canada, and I have a corn dolly (made from maize!). The tentacles were a necessity. 😅

Ok, I know it's a little grey. I think that's a combo of thickening with cornstarch instead of making a gravy with ground almond. Also adding the spinach. But it's SO GOOD.
A fancy floral Edwardian bowl with 1/2 chicken pieces with spinach in gravy (medieval spiced), and 1/2 roasted potatoes seasoned with cubeb, grains of paradise, and long pepper. Tastes so good.

Whee! I haven't done gouache in so long. Starting again from zero with colour mixing samples. I need a few more colours. Another black, a brown (ochre), a nicer quality chrome yellow. There are a couple watercolours in there...

The leadership debates were on. LOL Clearly John and I have stepped completely away because we had no idea and given the phone traffic I've had, there doesn't seem to be a Federal Liberal organization functioning in the north. We aren't doing this anymore but someone really should. If you are interested in taking on the Prince George riding or ridings, please reach out to the Liberal Party in BC. They need you. Pierre Poilievre and his team are dangerous in my estimation, handing these ridings back to him without a contest is a terrible idea for democracy. But given how many calls and messages I've fielded today I'm concerned that many people seem to think we are going to do it again. We aren't. You need to get involved and get organized. Now.
