It is impossible to understand the Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act cases without the context that John Roberts has hated the Voting Rights Act since he was working to water it down as a 26-year-old Reagan staffer. This is his life’s work, and he can’t wait to finish the job.
Killing the Voting Rights Act Is John Roberts’s Life’s Work
As a 26-year-old Reagan staffer, Roberts was already convinced the Voting Rights Act had to go. He can’t wait to finish the job.

The Trump administration is coming after the disabled community. When the @advocate.nyc.gov appointed me as a D75 Council Member, I took an oath to protect our children’s rights to education , and I take that seriously. Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive—whatever that looks like. #Pinks
My latest for @msnbc.com: The Trump administration's gutting the special education personnel not only betrays people with disabilities; it rolls back the work of four Republican presidents who passed bills for special education (Nixon, Ford, and the Bushes)

Opinion | Trump's mass firings strike a hammer blow against Americans with disabilities
The GOP once supported special education programs. Recent dismissals at the Education Department put an end to that support.

It really is bizarre to me that every single member of GOP House leadership & the admin has decided their coordinated talking point this week is that the No Kings demonstrations this Sat are essentially acts of domestic terrorism. Are they that afraid of free & peaceful assembly?

Spot on.
Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

Today, Mike Johnson will continue to keep the House adjourned for the 71st day out of the last 83, with Republicans refusing to show up to work again to avoid having to vote on the Epstein files or negotiate with Democrats.

4/ Ok, so then the obvious next step is to negotiate a compromise. That's how we've always avoided shutdowns. And Republicans need to convene those talks, bc they're in charge.

But here's the kicker - Trump is telling them to BOYCOTT NEGOTIATING. And they are following orders.

As a mother of a child who is finally thriving because of his IEP (and correct diagnosis and the right meds), this makes me sick and furious. Why proactively threaten the availability of proven tools that can help all of our kids learn and contribute to society to the extent possible?
There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

They haven't scheduled a vote since September 19.

When Trump is about to do something awful, he signals ahead so that people can get acclimated to the idea. It reduces the likelihood of a blow up from people due to the shock.

Brace yourselves America. You put him in power. Get ready for the road to fascism to accelerate at a fast pace.
