I’m so sorry UNL that you included atmospheric sciences in the final draft of the budget cuts bill you’re sending to the university board. 🤍🤍🤍
A road is closing in the meteorology world. The University of Nebraska Lincoln is eliminating all of its Earth science and meteorology department to save the university from financial deficit. UNL was a prominent university for meteorological research. This is quite sad.

Melissa is about to make landfall as a monstrous 180MPH category 5 hurricane. This will be catastrophic for Jamaica. Pressure still falling and strengthening still as it approaches the coast. Pressure falling now at 896MB. Might be the strongest hurricane in the Atlantic in recorded history.

If you haven’t been keeping up. Multiple NWS offices have been converting their infographic images to AI generated pictures. This is a dangerous precedent for the meteorological field as we will not know what images NWS offices posting are real or not. Here’s an example Hanford posted recently.
