Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Sky News and the BBC repeatedly mention the "migrant crisis" in doing so they are normalising and legitimising far right talking points. There is no "migrant crisis", there is only migrant hysteria, which the British media is feeding into instead of countering.

It melts my head that X is still used for official Government communications, and, catching up on today's news and the fact we have a foreign billionaire inciting violence on our streets, it's clearer than ever that this should end.

I raised this in Parliament last week 👇

Watching ICE chase, tackle, and (usually) whisk into a van anyone who looks a certain way is the most literal and visceral reminder possible that policing in the United States has its roots in runaway slave patrols.
ICE agents in tactical gear chase down and tackle a U.S. citizen in L.A.

After realizing he’s American, they just slink away.

Their only explanation: “Why were you running?”

Probably because two masked men with guns were trying to snatch him.

Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied
The problem with this ‘let’s weaken our commitment to the ECHR so as to fend off Farage’ plan is that when it doesn’t work, we end up with Farage *and* a weakened commitment to the ECHR at exactly the moment we need the ECHR the most.

All this talk about “did they know” about Biden’s decline and all I can think about is “do the Tesla board know their head guy is publicly chewing off his own face in the Oval Office next to THIS President.”

The most important achievement of the right in the C21st has been the invention of an all-powerful "establishment" that does not include the editor of the Sunday Telegraph, the world's richest media moguls, the party that was in govt for 14 years, Boris Johnson or the billionaire president of the US

glad that this is being written about but lol, how depressing that "the new boss came in and made sure the website was actually usable" feels revolutionary for the media in 2025
The new CEO of The Onion spent his first month on the job getting rid of the website's god awful ad tech and focusing on improving the user experience. He then launched a paid membership, reintroduced the print product, and expanded the staff from 14 to 27.
The Onion’s Ben Collins Knows How to Save Media
The NBC News reporter turned CEO sits down for a long talk about his “weird and awkward” last year at the network; his girlfriend, congressional hopeful Kat Abughazaleh; and how he turned 'The Onion' ...

The @Telegraph, @thetimes, @MailOnline & @TheSun publish corrections to their scaremongering on undocumented migrants in London.

Imagine between them the reach & power of these papers.
The fact is they are using that power to instil Trumpist hate & we are ill-equipped to resist.

I've started Red Dead Redemption 2 and blimey, these outlaws are chatty. Like, they're all the strong and extremely talkative type. I think narrative games are often closer to radio than film. The experience is more like listening to an audio serial than watching a western.

This show is one of the two best pieces of sci-fi in the past decade. (The other one is Scavenger’s Reign.)

Sci-fi movies & TV have been eaten by superheroes and no, this show is what SF can do. It is about the feeling of the modern world, as precisely as Kafka.

Friendly reminder that block lists are LIVING DOCUMENTS.

This means that people added to these later also get blocked. This may not seem a like a big deal, but it can create situations where bad actors get you to click on a list of trolls and then populate it with actual journalists later on.
