rewatching FIGHT CLUB this week i was very struck by how a movie that is very plainly a critique of this vision of masculinity was taken up as a valorization of it
It's grim thinking about how many men and women in society have mental models of valorous male behavior that primarily consist of being abusive and violent.
one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

I've noticed that women often have The Realization about Elon being a basically bad guy a lot sooner than men, and I think a lot of times it's because women have to learn how to recognize abusers.
My first realization that Elon was an utter asshole was an article I read about his divorce from his first wife. You can always tell the guys who treat women in their life like objects are also idiots about literally everything else.
