He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

In about three years the entire university pivot to AI curricula and schools and programs is going to be so deeply embarrassing. We will all pretend it never happened and I will be standing there, looking at people with a mirror in my eyes. This is all so embarrassing.

Conservatives across racial lines have long argued for class-based affirmative action and “high achieving/low income” described the one group of Black and Brown kids elites were willing to help and welcome to elite campuses. Now, that path is also blocked, at least for now.

Adams is polling at like 7-8 percent. His dropping out is not really impactful, right?
Today’s news confirms it: Cuomo is Trump’s choice for Mayor. The White House is considering jobs for Adams and Sliwa to clear the field.

New Yorkers are sick of corrupt politics and backroom deals. No matter who’s running, we will deliver a better future on November 4.

He will definitely make sure Minn is redistricted if called upon to do so, I think.
Walz says Harris "would have been a fantastic president... we wouldn't wake up every day to a bunch of shit on TV. We would wake up to an adult w/ compassion & dignity doing the work, not a manchild crying about whatever is wrong with him. May his fat ankles find something today. Petty as hell."

I think a major factor in so many people being kind of blasé or in denial about ~all this~ is that they’ve been waiting to be given some sort of paternal-ish permission to start freaking out.

So, here ya go. Here’s the permission.

Micro schools are one of the fastest growing segments of the education sector. In the U.S., education looks different depending on geography. The highly literate and educated are breaking off and doing their own thing. I wrote a book about why: www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/721962...

My current theory is enough powerful people prefer bigger share of a smaller pie to make this stable. And since the nature of capitalism is that it concentrates economic power in a relatively few people if that segment are on board such a conspiracy against the public can be sustained for some time!
I'm totally baffled abt the markets. Where is Capital? Trump is messing w/ govt data; imposing tariffs; flirting w/ default; meddling in corporate management.

Where are the CEO complaints? The bond vigilantes? Where are billionaire hedge funders who trade on good data? Was Capital's power a mirage?

A great read on UChicago, arguing we’re seeing the result of decades of mismanagement: “The university’s trustees and leaders view it preeminently as a tax-free technology incubator, and its debt load is so great that it is abandoning ideals it once held dear in order to sustain that goal.”
The Crisis of the University Started Long Before Trump
The University of Chicago is in crisis. Under extraordinary financial strain, it has diminished its faculty-student ratio and hired hundreds of “lecturers”: teachers whom it pays little and whom it do...

holy cow, it’s always important to track universities’ institutional debt, but this stat is wild: 85% of undergrad students’ tuition going to service debt at U Chicago
“The University of Chicago has now borrowed $6.3 billion, more than 70 percent of the value of its endowment. The cost of servicing its debt is now 85 percent of the value of all undergraduate tuition. (This is not normal. No peer institution has a debt-to-asset ratio greater than 26 percent.)”
