🗃️ Tyler Austin Harper’s insane Andrew Mellon Foundation hit piece, which of course @theatlantic.com was happy to print, has rightfully pissed off everyone in the Humanities.

As someone who works in higher education funding, here is a 🧵 on why this article is even more infuriating than you think.
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has become the country’s preeminent funder of humanities research, Tyler Austin Harper writes. Is it saving American arts and letters—or killing them?

Among the minors to be cut are African American Studies and Philosophy and Religion, both of which are housed in the Department of English and World Languages (no doubt the result of earlier consolidation). And, indeed, they cannot cost much to make available to students.

Is anyone else mad at the fact that they have to pay federal taxes for bullshit they don't want? Like new ballrooms, the Gestapo, child torture, and human trafficking.

I wanna pay for education, social services, UBI, and universal health care! I'm so gotdamn mad right now, I need to lie down.

Megyn Kelly just shouting “FOOTBALL IS OURS” at Piers Morgan about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show is the perfect example of this moment in time. Put it in a time capsule and send it out into space.

The New Jersey Globe reports there's a total of 4,673 ballots that have not yet been counted in #NJ11: newjerseyglobe.com/campaigns/me...

Some won't count in the Dem primary because they were cast by Republicans, or because they're provisionals that won't be accepted.

Mejia's lead stands at 889.

Nice try, MAGA, but the truth is in 40 million people's DNA, in hundreds of slave testimonials, eyewitness accounts, and the Federal Writers' Project.

Trump wouldn't even have a White House to desecrate if it wasn't for enslaved laborers.
