While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

The City of Glendale, California — one of the most populous cities in Southern California — says it has terminated its contract with U.S. Homeland Security and ICE.
Glendale, CA - The City of Glendale has made the decision to formally terminate its agreement with U.S. Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to house federal immigration detainees at the Glendale Police Department facility. This is a local decision and was not made lightly. Since 2007, the City has maintained a highly regulated, locally controlled facility that is maintained to the highest standards, extending basic dignities to those temporarily held-ensuring access to clean accommodations, on-call medical care, family visitation, and legal counsel. By offering local access, detainees were given due-process proximity that is too often lacking in more remote or privately-operated detention centers. Nevertheless, despite the transparency and safeguards the City has upheld, the City recognizes that public perception of the ICE contract—no matter how limited or carefully managed, no matter the good—has become divisive. And while opinions on this issue may vary—the decision to terminate this contract is not politically driven. It is rooted in what this City stands for—public safety, local accountability, and trust. Glendale is consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in the nation. That is no accident. The Glendale Police Department is trusted and supported by the residents and businesses, and in turn, our officers work every day to protect and serve with professionalism and care. At this time, it is in our best interest to not allow that trust to be undermined. To that end, we emphasize: • The Glendale Police Department does not enforce immigration law. That is not their role, nor will it ever be. • We remain in full compliance with California Senate Bill 54 (SB 54), which prohibits local law enforcement from using resources for immigration enforcement. • The Glendale Police Department has not engaged in immigration enforcement, nor will it do so moving forward.

I was scheduled to give a talk on Palestine at a student conference at @notredame.bsky.social. The University rescinded my talk a week in advance citing an extremely flimsy excuse. It is truly disgusting. Attached is the letter I received and my reply, link below...
Dear Dr. Abdelhadi, The Keough School of Global Affairs, which houses the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, recently learned of your keynote speech at their student conference next weekend. The University of Notre Dame requires that all events or lectures related to Israel/Palestine have ND Police security and planning. We were unaware of your planned lecture, and since this conference overlaps with two other annual events on campus, we cannot provide security at short notice. The people of Sackets Harbor—and especially the school administrators and teachers—should serve as an example for us all that resistance can work. You do not need to comply in advance. The Trump administration is powerful, but not invincible. This story is a reminder to journalists that reporting on things happening in the smallest places can have the largest impact. My hats off to the local journalists who first made noise about this miscarriage of justice. I feel fortunate that I could help amplify it, and that we can celebrate this small but powerful victory. And we can rest a little easier knowing the third grader will finally get to see the welcome home banner hung by classmates with love.

The prayer room at NYU — accessibly only via NYU ID — was vandalized with islamophobic graffiti and prayer mats were reportedly urinated on.

NYU didn’t address the incident for several hours. Elected officials quick to condemn antisemitism have said nothing.
