Seeing American democracy torn down, day after day.
Doing all I can to help keep it standing.

Power to the people.
I feel exactly the same - just being numb and quite hopeless. No one will save us, all of us are frogs in boiling water…
Watching Elizabeth Warren talk about Trump’s fascism as a distraction last night really broke something in me. Where I used to have this anger at the Democrats for folding to Trump I find myself numb. I don’t know if it’s going to last, but I don’t feel anything about their inaction anymore.
House Democrats could force a vote on impeaching RFK any time they want. Of course it would fail. But do you want to make an issue of it or not?

Federal power grab is hilarious.
8th Cir. holds, 2-1, that a federal prosecution for arson is constitutional under the spending clause as applied to a man who Molotoved three state-owned police cars.

Held: it's enough that the feds gave around 4% of the police budget and money is fungible.

Turned out judicial coup is here, but it's not the one far right is talking about.
The Supreme Court is out of control. To allow the president, without any explanation, to unilaterally dismantle agencies created by an Act of Congress is to endow the president with sovereignty. There is no justification, because they haven’t given one. Our country is in big trouble.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

From Sotomayor's dissent:

I don’t get what’s a point of lying about something like this on paper for a sitting congressman. Own atupidity? Thinking your constituents all stupid? Someone ask the guy…

Let's take a look at Lynch.

> "any"

Not for privilege motions! If the House did not table Al Green's motion, each side would have had 30 minutes to debate and then vote on the impeachment resolution.

There is no one way to impeach, because the Constitution leaves the rules to the House to decide.

I’m not sure why did I watch this, but it shows so perfectly how MAGA old democrats party is.

Total disgrace
June 26, 2025 at 1:12 PM
That’s crazy s**t
The Senate bill aims to effectively end all civil rights lawsuits against the federal government except by entities rich enough to potentially pay million/billions in fees.

I am not making this up.

The level of Orwellian Newspeak is mind blowing - black is white and white is black... It's ABC journalist smearing Miller with hate, and not whole Miller X account covered by hate towards immigrants (and judges, and democrats, and whatever else).
Look how quickly the Vice President of the United States pivoted to portraying Stephen Miller(!) as a victim of the press.

All because a reporter stated the obvious truth about Miller’s hate-mongering.

MAGA = constant victimology and grievances.

How to ignite antisemitism 101: repress opposing views, people for sure will just move on.
The 2025 class president of M.I.T. was barred from a graduation ceremony on Friday after delivering a pro-Palestinian speech during a commencement event the day before.

It’s becoming more and more obvious Trump knows nothing about what’s happening and have arguably very limited control over it. Which is ironic given that this was one of the main accusations about Biden.
This dude is not the president.

I don’t know who is. But someone is making a fck ton of decisions and it’s not him.

TRUMP: On what?

This makes me so mad. Those people are definition of bad faith behavior. And the idea of turning the US into something like Missouri is terrible 😞

F**k them
The House Republican reconciliation bill will now ban both surgeries and HRT prescription under Medicaid for all Americans.

Earlier, I posted that it wouldn’t affect HRT. This is incorrect.

I was mistaken, because the bill refers to medications for trans people… as “procedures.”

You should too.

How much courts need to adjust to keep up with so obviously bad faith administration? Do you make everything explicit? Do you sanction bad faith behavior? Do you give up? So many choices…
Elianis Perez / DOJ: We believe they had the opportunity, they could have expressed fear to deportation officers at any point. We understand that the court disagrees. But any misunderstanding from DHS was because preliminary injunction wasn't explicit enough.

Between this and @shrithanedar.bsky.social backing off on his impeachment attempt I feel very hopeless about the future. Media and democrats suck.
May 14, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Disappointed. I was so excited to see the results.
Rep. Thanedar has decided to not pursue a vote on H.Res 353 via Rule IX at this time.

We are disappointed but not surprised.

It's a shame that the Democratic Party put this much pressure on one of its own members who was trying to do the right thing.

Legacy media is a disgrace
Hey NY Times--

It is still a "fringe theory" -- every court has rejected it.

There is still a "broad consensus" -- John Eastman is a disgraced lawyer under indictment.

The only thing that has changed is the Times.

It’s incredibly ironic none of NBC/CBS/ABC/MSNBC published a story, but Fox did!
May 14, 2025 at 3:40 AM
I almost wish for democrats to reveal their true selves. And I really wish for the ones who against the impeachment to burn at primaries. Those people in ways are worse than their republicans counterparts.
May 14, 2025 at 2:33 AM
Wondering when democrats will realize they might need to start doing *something* for the people to win the people. Pathetic.
Is “near-universal agreement” in the room with you?
May 13, 2025 at 9:14 PM
CNN you drunk, go home!
Notably, the WSJ Editorial Board—a notorious right-wing clown car—was capable of accurately describing Trump's failure and capitulation.

But @cnn.com—which claims it provides unbiased, objective journalism—had its Chief Domestic Correspondent publish blatant partisan lies as "news."
May 13, 2025 at 10:16 AM
Longer democrats don’t reinvent themselves higher the chances of very ugly resolve of the political conflict.
May 12, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Making completely uninformed opinion while pushing toxic narrative?!? Don’t be like Conor, kids.
May 12, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Klobuchar with this and “NO FAKES” act definitely turned out to be one of the ugly democrats rather than just bad.
Klobuchar on Stephen Miller saying the administration is considering suspending habeas corpus: "He's doing it because they don't want to focus on what's really in front of them, and that they have created havoc in our economy ... no, they're not gonna reverse habeas corpus in the Congress."
