It was good to co-author alongside @clarekelly.bsky.social & Caitríona Leahy & with the input from Harun Šiljak & Norah Campbell. We are clearly not the only ones thinking like this, both within Trinity & beyond, so let's build community to #resistAI

Opinion: We are lecturers in Trinity College Dublin. It is our responsibility to resist AI
Even if all the known issues were magically resolved, we would still not want our students to use GenAI

The exciting talent @katiewilson.bsky.social has taken a narrow lead as ballots are still being counted in the Seattle mayoral race.
If you want a sense of why this is very cool news, here's something of mine from earlier this fall

Can Progressive Mayors Redeem the Democratic Party?
Zohran Mamdani isn’t the only candidate challenging the status quo—and having fun doing it.

You may not like him, but he has a point.
Two-thirds of California's power comes from clean energy.
For 9 in 10 days so far this year, we were 100% powered for some part of the day by clean energy.
The Golden State has become the world's fourth-largest economy because of our climate leadership, not in spite of it.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

I guess the reason Angus King isn't running again is the lost of his backbone. Of course, it was working. Didn't he watch November 4? Mango & his minions will now come back harder and worse.

For those confused by state of play on SNAP right now: You're not alone
Yesterday, *before* SCOTUS paused order telling Trump admin to send out SNAP $$, a handful of states rushed to issue full SNAP benefits to at least part of their caseload.
This includes CA, OR, WA, MI, and WI—all blue states (🧵)

Dear Dutch government, Could you pls create facsimiles of the removed material and post them outside the cemetery?
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Of course, Mango Mussolini pulled US troops from Eastern Europe. If this is a surprise, you haven't been paying attention. His supporters--this includes those who didn't vote for Harris--have contributed to world disorder. Much joy may it bring them.

Please donate to the largest, most effective food bank in your area. If there's a smaller, usually church-/community-run, food bank in your neighborhood, ask what is needed and donate that. Try to avoid donating the icky food you wouldn't touch w/ a ten-foot pole. Off-brand Velveeta comes to mind. 🥰

Couldn't someone send his minions to a good library to look up the Belvedere, Fontainebleau, the Hofburg, Versailles for examples of tasteful (!!) Baroque and Rococo? They could bring him picture books... What he has is something from Home Depot.
