That heaviness you feel after events like yesterday is real. We've all accumulated a lot of mental and emotional weight in the first year of Trump's disastrous presidency. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/the-physic...

We’ve discovered a literal miracle with almost unlimited potential and it’s being scrapped for *no reason whatsoever*. This isn’t even nihilism, it’s outright worship of death and human suffering.

Also, the way that every event, no matter how shocking or horrible or unprecedented, gets fed into the far-right social media hallucination machine, and twisted beyond recognition until it supports the far-right's own nonsensical worldview, is the very core of why we are where we are as a society.
This is an egregiously shameful tweet from a US senator

This quote captures the empty Christianity of so Republicans perfectly: “The role of the church – the role of people of faith – is to care for our neighbors. Yes,” said Rep. Isaac Schultz, R-Elmdale Township, during the House floor debate. “But not in this instance, specifically.”

These are crimes. They're committing crimes. And when people understandably protest the fact that they're committing crimes, they're shooting flashbangs at them.
🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles.

Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

Unfortunately, that's the point. This would typically offend conservatives, but because it's offending liberals, they decide that it's funny and they support it.

That, in turn, helps normalize the end goal they're already close to: Ending the concept of Christian love.

It’s kind of funny to think back on the fact that pushing back a little firmly on social media platforms allowing rampant COVID misinformation was described by the MAGA crowd and its enablers as the height of government censorship
1. The DOJ has sent threatening letters to several medical journals, focused around whether these journals are spreading misinformation that harms the American people and suppressing alternative viewpoints.

I study how the norms and institutions of science facilitate discovery and self-correction.

This threatens the rights and freedoms of everyone in the United States.

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines.

When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

The most maddening aspect of the campaign was that

A) The high cost of living was clearly the number one issue for voters, particularly persuadable voters

B) Trump was running on an explicit set of promises to raise everyone’s prices.

C) this somehow never got through

Now here we are!
