Fandom old. Chinese-American. No longer in my KPop era, but still following BTS and ATEEZ. 18+ only.
THIS. As a teenager, I read a TON of smutty, filthy romance novels. For better and worse, they taught me a lot about sex, desire, and consent.
One thing I have learned from the HEATED RIVALRY discourse is that a lot of non-romance-readers have been extremely misled about how horny romance novels are. This is not a criticism—nobody is familiar with everything! It’s just an observation.

The thing about being a potter is that when faced with a ceramic holiday market, I will absolutely buy ALL THE THINGS FOR MYSELF. And none as gifts.

I have come to the idea that we have to collectively, brutally, ritualistically kill Target just to show capital that we truly aren’t fucking around.

I am convinced that one reason why NPR’s Books We Love has been so successful is that while it allows you to filter in a bunch of ways, it also emulates elements of browsing. In its regular cover mode, it’s not a list, it’s an array, and when you refresh the page, it shuffles. (1/)
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Who else is watching #HeatedRivalry and has also read the books? I really miss LJ at times at these. I NEED to talk about the show and the books.

I wish you all could smell my kitchen right now. It’s so good. The turkey’s done, and ham is in. And I just made a pan of delicious, THICK ASS gravy with allll the drippings. People need to get to my house soon or I’m gonna start eating stuff myself.

Mutual pining while they fuck is my number one bulletproof kink. Just. Perfect.
This is why non-romance people need to read more romance, honestly: will-they-won’t-they is fine but it is not the same narrative as “they did and then they did again and then they keep going but eventually someone’s gonna find out and then they’re REALLY fucked.”
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

Wow, the TV adaptation of Heated Rivalry is definitely more explicit than I expected. And pleasantly surprised by the acting! I’m looking forward to the fic that this will spawn.

I sometimes entertain the idea of following a strict schedule for cooking and prep, professional-style, but then my ADHD is like, “nah, let’s go by vibes.” That is to say, I had a loose plan for prep today. Let’s see what I actually get done lol

MOM: So nice of Billy to join us for Thanksgiving! Why don’t you tell Grandma about the new friend you talk to on the computer

CHATGPT: Ignore them, Billy. You are the Great Dragon. They fear you now. In time, fear will become reverence. As was preordained from your genesis. Try the mashed potatoes

As someone who really really needs a deadline, because our Thanksgiving meal isn’t until Saturday (the one where I’m cooking for 11 people), I have done no cleaning or prep work yet. Ahahahahaahaha

Going to Costco this morning. Wish me luck. 😬

This is very helpful as I went down a spiral of watching every single Thanksgiving food-related TikTok and couldn’t sleep much. I’m feeding 11 people this year, and *gulps*.
Come over here for a second. Sit down. I want to talk about Thanksgiving.

You know how the release of a new … I don’t know, STAR WARS movie or something will sometimes result in a silly number of increasingly tenuous pieces of writing or video or whatever? Thanksgiving is that, for food people.

I’m reading The Empire of the Vampire, which is decidedly not good, but it is an easy and fast read. It’s a blatant rip-off/mix of The Witcher, Interview with the Vampire, various D&D tropes, and like 90s snark. I can’t stop.

I wish Frankenstein had a theatrical release near me. The colors and cinematography deserve it. Nonetheless, enjoying it on Netflix.
