While the plagiarism and anti-labor aspects of AI are obviously super bad, this is an aspect that imo we really need to push more re: anti-AI messaging.

its propping up climate-destroying industries and is a MASSIVE resource drain at a time where our resources should really be used more wisely
“They only use genAI for internal use”

“It’s just for generating some ideas, it’s not even really more efficient”

Hey folks in Illinois! Apparently @durbin.senate.gov is very much trying to get Section 230 repealed so you should call him and tell him that is a very bad idea. Thanks!

Please keep contacting your representatives and demand they oppose repealing sec230, and oppose internet censorship/surveillance bills

Get friends and family involved, february is when they are going to make a major push
Posted by Sen Graham on Twitter, calling for a week in February “dedicated to advancing legislation that protects children from online threats and tackling the Section 230 crisis once and for all.” 10% of the senate sponsors the S230 repeal bill

From this point on, I'm forced to assume that every elected politician who does not immediately call for Trump's impeachment is in the Epstein files. Sorry. Just cutting the Gordian knot here, as one does during societal collapse.

wrong

I smack you with Claire Hummel's immaculate and detailed understanding of costume design, which she got by studying historical references, which made her strong, which you will not become by relying on AI

concept artists have been iterating on ideas for decades, they're trained to do it efficiently

if you as a company want to sacrifice quality for quantity then that's on you, and it WILL show in the product, it WILL look sloppy

Over on The Other Sites, we have to censor words that can get us in trouble- words like "sex" and "trans" and "gynecologist". Here's an explainer post we just shared on Instagram about it! 1/2

Ai is dumb. If you don’t want to do art, don’t. The literal point of art is process. It’s like reading plot of a movie and then pretending like you watched it.

I just don’t get it

I disagree, Larian is being made an example out of, it’s like putting a head on a pike. The message? “We don’t care if you made BG3. We will not forgive any use of AI”
ragging on a top game studio for using LLM placeholder text is maybe not the most efficient use of time with all the fires currently burning

I keep coming back to this thread on the Nero Decree over and over again.

Twitter. CBS. Columbia. The Fed. The Kennedy Center.

They're not transforming them, they're burning them and salting the earth behind them so they can't be rebuilt.

And the biggest target of all is the internet.
We saw the prototype of the Nero Doctrine with Twitter. The goal wasn't to make it profitable or "free." The goal was to break the one place where news broke faster than the state could spin it.

They bought the town square not to speak in it, but to burn it down so we’d have nowhere else to gather.

Don't mistake incompetence for accident. The degradation of your social media feed, the collapse of your news, the defunding of your school—it is all functional.

They are happy to rule over the ashes, as long as they are the ones holding the match.

If you know anyone in these states who cares about the right to protest, they need to ROAST the cosponsors of SB 3546, the Section 230 repeal:

- Rhode Island (Sen Whitehouse)
- Vermont (Sen Welch)
- Minnesota (Sen Klobuchar)
- Connecticut (Sen Blumenthal)

Experts say we have months not years to organize the type of mass protest needed to avoid authoritarianism and fascist rule taking hold in the United States.

And what is Congress doing? Introducing a repeal of Section 230, the law that underpins all free speech on the Internet

So look man if we're just gonna be online here watching all these big studios come out and lay down on the tracks about Gen AI going "I have to do this for some reason." then I think it's more important than ever to celebrate games from based devs who are out here openly posting "Nuh uh, fuck that."

I cannot stress enough that most ppl don't ever even think about calling their reps. I talk to ppl in my fam about it and they go "Huh? What?". But your reps work for YOU. They need to know what you actually care about. When we call in big numbers it ALERTS them, cuz they rarely hear from us.
Hey romancelandia and fandom peeps! If you live in the U.S. right now you should know that KOSA (along with a slew of censorship bills) are advancing through congress right now. If you care about spicy books and/or fanfiction you should contact your reps right now and tell them to vote NO on KOSA!
