THIS. Did you know sickle cell is curable, now? FULLY curable.

If you're feeling down or despairing about what FEELS like technology/advancement/science "standing still" or being fully malicious, I have great news: You're not paying attention to actual science. Just tech industry marketing.
meanwhile.... medicine has taken INSANE leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.
we're out here curing HIV and leukemia and creating 100% efficacy vaccines against all sorts of cancers, and now this??

between this and renewable energy outstripping fossil fuels in efficiency, the future is bright
Wanna see real-life miracles? Fund scientific research.

A team of US scientists just cured Alzheimer’s in mice — and there is now hope that the disease can be reversed in humans.

Its crazy that after all this people still don't understand that the Big Tech gave mandate to Trump to dissolve the EU. Thats his primary goal in international relations. Not joking.

I’ve written something on John Collison’s Op-Ed and environmental democracy

Next time you’re out in Dublin, check if you’re being “socially de-risked” by a friendly face from his think-tank

I am extremely hesitant to insert my already socially-amplified voice into the discussion on making life easier for (and thereby acknowledging the human dignity of) trans people.

I am so far from sharing their life experiences, I am sure I will clumsy about on something meaningful.

Nonetheless…

this is a really beautiful video in its own right but also an example of what a real "Joe Rogan of the left" would look like: someone who can perform a positive vision of masculinity, one that's not toxic. it wouldn't be partisan or hackish or whatever they're actually imagining.
I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.

It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

Fascinating interview with a private drone designer for the RU military. His knowledge of UKR & Western drones is limited and should be taken with some skepticism but he still presents a quite candid picture into the current state of unmanned warfare:🧵

This judgment undoubtedly constitutes a landmark ruling.

Its significance lies not only in the outcome—which, contrary to Advocate General Collins’s Opinion— finds Malta in breach of EU law, but also in several important aspects of the Court’s reasoning.

I'm an expert in online speech & platform laws, so I always get asked about those. But for the current US vs. EU posturing, I think the speech stuff is a red herring.

Both US platforms and EU businesses are motivated money. Speech laws like the DSA aren't their main problem for that.

Have we solved tax competition?

The TV show Adolescence is being weaponised in the effort to ban phones and social media for kids – but this only highlights the UK's abject failure to build online spaces that aren't manipulated by algorithmic gamification.

I cannot recommend Mike's reply enough. It's exactly what readers need to hear, what journalists need to do.

This is a meme amongst pro-Europeans and should die quickly. What would actually help Canada would be solidarity in face of the aggressor Trump, fully ratifying CETA and coordinate on eventual trade responses to the US.
Canadian membership of the EU would not realistically solve Canada’s problems. I’ve not seen a single Canadian suggest it and Europeans should stop doing so.

Europe’s disarmed state is …

(also) an advantage

✅… IF we use it right - by stepping up, NOW, to arm ourselves, for the ST, MT & LT future in a smart way

❌not slowly spending a fortune trying to replace US capabilities & arming ourselves to fight the last war, not the next one.

To make it very simplified: EU personal data is only legal to hold on US servers because of an agreement. That agreement requires a special court to exist. That court just got disbanded. An awful lot of software backends are now non-compliant with EU data protection. FUN TIMES

The weaponization of US technology companies means we should treat our dependence on them as a national security threat ↘️
So let's get this straight: The U.S. and Elon are now extorting Ukraine and threatening to turn off their Starlink Internet access unless they give their critical rare earth minerals to the United States? Staggering levels of corruption.
