The Roosevelt Institute published a 180-page report on the methodological and administrative challenges of wealth taxation and I love them for it.
How to Tax the Ultrarich
Learn about the Fair Share Tax (FAST), a practical, constitutionally sound plan to tax the ultrarich, close loopholes, and prevent dynastic wealth accumulation.

In honour of the FT and Statista declaring Deloitte and PwC the top consultancies for sustainability services, worth re-upping @rosiecollington.bsky.social's and my piece on the rise of climate consulting:
New development: Climate consulting and the transformation of climate governance
External consultancies’ involvement in climate governance has grown substantially in recent years. Public sector managers encounter them in government tasks from policy research and design to clima...

New survey: Only 17% of Danes now see the U.S. as an ally; 60% as adversary.
Stort flertal ser nu USA som modstander - ikke som allieret
Kun 17 procent af danskerne betragter USA som en allieret.

The FT remains the only good global newspaper, exhibit #923
I gather some people think the FT has been neglecting its core for “woke nonsense” bla bla yada yada, which is news to this 12k word beast — an oral history of the Federal Reserve’s Covid-19 crisis made up of quotes from the recently released full transcripts. www.ft.com/content/cb9a...

How my Gen Z colleagues see me when I try to “stay with it” in the office discourse
Alison Luchs, who has worked at the National Gallery of Art for 47 years, agreed to learn Gen Z slang and make videos because she wanted to raise interest in the museum’s art.

There's a dollar "vibe shift" happening now that is different from past bouts of dollar pessimism. You might be skeptical. That's understandable since the de-dollarization narrative has been around for years now, and little has changed about the dollar's global position. 1/

A thing I like here is (implicitly) bringing the sociology of conferences to political science. What is elsewhere called "field-configuring events" (of which Davos is a great case) is an instructive lens for understanding world politics.

The torment nexus meme comes full circle
“Most Americans don’t agree with Mr. Trump’s trying to buy Greenland, and many more oppose the idea of taking it by force. Fantasies deflate quickly once real costs become obvious, but it is impossible for Europe to impose costs without incurring risks itself.”

It’s not only that the ACI is designed to respond to outside coercion. It was designed so *specifically because of Trump trade threats in his first term* (notably over EU digital services taxes).
“The EU's anti-coercion instrument is the bloc's most powerful retaliatory tool, designed to respond to deliberate coercive actions from third countries that use trade measures to pressure the policy choices of the EU or its members.”
