Something that boggles my mind a little is that in 1977 Fredric Jameson gave a series of lectures to 25 or so people in Minnesota & one of them had a cassette recorder. And this year we remastered those cassette tapes & around 14,000 people in 53 countries heard those lectures.

Psilocybin ‘recovering’ forgotten sexual trauma in anorexia patients. It’s the recovered-memory sorcery again, chemically mediated this time. Ethical red flags everywhere. 🤦‍♂️

our bluesky safety manager replied with this to a woman venting after ICE kidnapped her husband, and then banned her.

How do we trust this person to have the empathy needed to be in charge of safety on this website? what the fuck?

if we spam the feedback, it might get somewhere

To propose that GenAI can compensate for "archival silences" perverts Trouillot's work. It's is a contradiction to say that a product whose logic exacerbates power imbalances--creating a most-likely guess based on the existing record--can restore absences that are the product of those imbalances.

What is Freeland's compensation scheme right now? An MP salary, a ministerial salary for the made-up position leveraging private capital for Ukraine, now CEO salary for the Rhodes Trust? Pretty sweet grift.

I remember when there was a discussion on Twitter about Shein's manufacturing practices and some apologists invented all sorts of fantastical machinery and technology to avoid facing the more horrifying truth. Reminds me of this comedian's joke.
