In case you missed it over the weekend, the Canadian PM basically shrugged off a question about paying a billion dollars to help manage an ongoing genocide.
When pressed by CBC's Ashley Burke whether a billion dollars is "reasonable" for participation in the "Board of Peace," Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gives a blubbering response in which he appears to admit that Canada will pay, but that "Canada wants money to have maximum impact."

The Greenland scheme is a very clever strategy by US planners. Either the Europeans and Canada militarize the Arctic region and project interdiction capability into Russian shipping lanes, or the US does it unilaterally. Stoking nationalist revanchism within Europe & Canada is a win-win for the US.

At least six more more countries say the United States has invited them to join U.S. President Donald Trump’s new “Board of Peace" overseeing next steps for Gaza.

In an exchange with CBC's Ashley Burke, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recasts the Israeli genocide of Palestinians as a "humanitarian tragedy," and praises Qatar for "getting us to the position where there is the possibility" that Canada can help "ultimately move towards peace."

I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Carney says that we need to work toward a two-state solution, but that can only happen if the Palestinian state is a “Zionist” one — a wild thing to say.

The Israeli government can be rabidly genocidal and committing war crimes, but Palestinians are always held to a different standard.

As is being demonstrated in the Ukraine conflict, logistics and state-controlled management of defence industries decide wars. That social democrats believe Canada would be able to sustain major combat operations for more than a couple of days is delusional.
My latest -- A new poll suggests that New Democrats are more ready to go to war with the US militarily than Conservatives are, by a lot. I suggest why that might be, and argue that a military option to defend Canadian sovereignty would be pure folly.

The brainrot of war propaganda has led us to the point where Canada could literally be in the middle of an invasion by the US, and pundits would still be crying about how it "enables Putin"
BILDT: "If Mr Putin sees that Trump can grab territory on the Arctic, it might well let Mr Putin think that he can also grab territory in the Arctic... I can see this leading to a situation where territory grabbing in the Arctic becomes something that those sorts of powers do."

Is China doing "colonialism" in Africa?

Here I argue that equating China’s activities in Africa to Western colonialism/imperialism is not only empirically incorrect, it trivialises the extraordinary violence of the latter. It is a form of denialism.

This is the kind of exceptionalism that allows uniquely Canadian forms of oppression and state violence to continue without critique. Canada is wedded to the United States in its origins in violent, ongoing dispossession.
Nathan Cullen: "I think watching the US leadership and the way they're handling this tragedy today is another underline for Canadians to say maybe our American cousins are more distant cousins than we thought politically, ethically, legally."
