Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

The AWS outage exposes again that “the cloud” isn’t magic, it’s infrastructure. The issue isn’t a cyberattack, it’s architectural over-reliance on a handful of cloud giants. We centralized the internet and then made our entire lives dependent on it.

As recently as last week, I was writing about the brilliance and impact of the art of Drew Struzan. Today, we learn he's passed. I'm gutted.

His artistic genius and inspirational images will truly be appreciated forever. May we continue to treasure his work & the man who made it. Thank you, Drew.

we are in really unsettling place that we're facing a deeply unpopular regime that is making everything appreciably worse but the people with the power to stand up to them and takes steps to maintain basic political stability are capitulating without a fight

I am begging media outlets to actually try “making a movie from a prompt” for themselves before parroting the AI industry’s fantasy framing that “anyone can make a movie from a prompt.”

Still haven’t seen any AI created content system that can stand up to at least 15 rounds of client feedback and endless tweaking. And that’s just for social media versions of approved spots… 🤣 #postchat
