There is going to be a point where Pete Hegseth insists he didn’t give the order to do this, but he did and there have to be consequences for it. Not just “lose your job” consequences, either.

Mr. Populist trust-buster has a big idea for disrupting healthcare is:

A tax deduction.

And Democrats are the ones who are out of touch.
Hawley is pitching his colleagues — and Trump — on a new health care plan that would allow all tax payers to deduct up to $25K/person in medical expenses.

Hawley told us he recently discussed the idea with Trump: “I said...'no taxes on tips, no taxes on health care’, and he goes ‘oh I like that."

The Missouri Republican is proposing making it easier for more tax payers to deduct medical expenses — and has pitched Donald Trump on the idea.

If you’re using this word, you’re a bad person, no matter what MattY says.

And more than that, you’re a total loser. No one says for any reason other than because they think it’s anti-woke and it feels transgressive. Losers!

I guess the question is: Who exactly would you rally behind for this fusion? Zohran doesn’t see himself as part of the same movement as Trump (for extremely obvious reasons) and Trump is way too old and politically weak/inept to even consider something like that.

Who would be the standard-bearer?
this dumb shit is what i mean when i say this is a purely aesthetic “politics.” yeah man, why can’t we have a fusion of cosmopolitan social democracy and revanchist hierarchies of wealth and privilege? tough question.
Matt Stoller: “..Trump & Mamdani defeated establishment in their own way, representing hunger of voters on the right & left who want something different. If those sides cd come together.. that would be a sea change in how we organize our political economy”.

Bush would’ve had 70% approval in 2005 had he pulled everyone out of Iraq after Sadaam was gone. The Admin is right about this from a pure politics perspective.
These guys looked at the failures of Iraq and Afghanistan and concluded the problem was giving a shit what happened after we wrecked everything.
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

I think the really instructive part is that it didn’t harm the racist/xenophobic wing of British politics at all. If anything, it strengthened it.

The signature policy platform of the movement got implemented, to entirely devastating effect, and people are clamoring for more.
Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

This is good but even with the reversal the necessary message has been sent here: Nazis and gutter racists are welcome
1) @washingtonpost.com reported Thursday on a controversial policy downgrading how nooses and swastikas are labeled in the Coast Guard.

2) Admin officials attacked The Post, falsely alleging the reporting of "fake crap."

3) The CG said it would review policy language.

4) The CG reversed course.

Isn’t the problem here that immigration is good for economic prosperity and therefore cracking down on immigration, even if broadly popular, will lead to unpopular outcomes in the long run?
I think the main problem is that economic outcomes in Britain have been bad.

Don’t know too much about what Starmer is trying here but that’s what he needs to turn around — after you win an election, you need growth & prosperity in pretty much any country.

No. Sorry. If Fetterman is using how mean people are to him online as the basis for how he votes on things he is utterly failing at governing and should resign immediately. We’re not going to do this “Oh you should’ve been nicer” bullshit.
No one on this website will ever stop and think about whether bullying/rudeness actually gets us more allies or alienates people that we need.

Here's John Fetterman complaining on CNN about how mean Bluesky is to him -- and how the far-left is way more "poisonous" than the far-right.
