four basic types of cop shows:
1. you won’t BELIEVE what kinds of crimes we solve
2. you won’t BELIEVE how we solve crimes
3. you won’t BELIEVE where we solve crimes
4. you won’t BELIEVE who we’re letting solve crimes

jotting down “Board of Peace” on my band name list
What happens when the Board of Peace recommends renaming the Department of War, and the Department of War moves to rename the Board of Peace?

Twenty-five years ago, Wikipedia was an unlikely idea: a place where anyone could share free knowledge.

Today, it’s one of the most visited sites on Earth, not powered by corporate ads, but by people.

hesitant to step in on this but I think people pushing for armed resistance really need to think about the goals of armed resistance and the mechanisms by which it could possibly achieve those goals.

The lengths to which the median American is increasingly willing to go to defend their neighbor, their friend, their coworker, the *stranger who needs their help* against this modern state-run Klan shit is going to carry downstream to voting, and I don't see any way it gets *lessened* by then!

This one always fascinated me. You’re telling me they debuted this shit alongside Larry Bird, and it took until the Rockets/Warriors for people to build their programs around the notion that 3 is greater than 2?
nba coaches not immediately implementing the three-point shot except in cases of offense bailout is still so wild to me
January 15, 1985: Trent Tucker of the New York Knicks sets an NBA record by making his 10th consecutive 3-point shot without a miss.

He made the 10 threes over a 9-game span beginning Dec. 28, 1984.

The problem to me is that advocating for “common sense measures” looks rhetorically daft in the face of an agency that is rapidly escalating matters because it considers itself immune to measures.
If you cannot tell the difference between "There are common sense measures that need to put in place so ICE can conduct itself in manner at least consistent w/ every other law enforcement agency" and "we just need more training" you are media illiterate.

And by “QR code on an ICE officer”, you mean a QR link to multilingual support materials on promptly-delivered immigration paperwork in the civilized world we build on top of the ashes of ICE, the paramilitary that shoots mothers and flashbangs infants
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.

Frost: For so long, the right wing has held up patriotism as a vibe, as an aesthetic. But patriotism is more than bald eagles and flags and beer. Patriotism is about loving the people who live in the damn country — every single one of them.

All this, plus I think my anxiety would go terminal if I were entrusted with the well-being of a child that’s still in the “routinely a threat to its own safety” stage of development
personally I think that a core reason why many people don’t want kids is because they just don’t want a constantly screaming, incontinent creature in their house that costs a lot of money, but it’s still not socially acceptable to just honestly say this up-front to pollers
If you own reproductive organs that the GOP is currently trying to commander as forced-birth factories, then I can’t blame you for being not-chill about birth rate discussions.

pretty sure people will be more open to discussion when MAGAs stop trying to force them into reproductive servitude.
