In ways both big (blowing off the law to release ALL Epstein files today) and small (putting Trump's name on the Kennedy Center), today has a total "who's gonna stop me" vibe from the regime

Maybe stop him?

The Bird’s Nest is home to a community of women, all older than 60. They broadly agree that, at this age, women are easier long-term companions than men. On Modern Love, two residents describe what it feels like to grow older together with the support of other women. nyti.ms/49iIGQE

For pretty much any critique you can level at any source of energy -- inefficient, too much pollution, takes too much land, has too many externalities, is propped up by subsidies, whatever -- it's worse for corn ethanol.

It's worse in all dimensions. It has zero redeeming features.
Corn’s clean-energy promise is clashing with its climate footprint
Corn dominates U.S. farmland and fuels the ethanol industry. But the fertilizer it relies on drives emissions and fouls drinking water.

Whether it's garbage NYT left-bait or right wing flood-the-zone nonsense that we all pile on to, we are letting the wrong people set our overall information agenda in a very deep and fundamental way. And it's a very serious mistake.

This is the essence of the emerging fascist state.

Access to resources and programs designed to make our lives better is being stolen from us so that the oppressors can use, hoard, and distribute them to friends and hold them ransom in order to force compliance.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Trump insists on keeping national parks open during the shutdown, which might be nice for Americans who had a trip booked, but is proving to be just another way this administration is crushing the National Parks Service. From @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social:

Opening Parks During Shutdown Part of Plan to Ruin Them
The Trump administration is selling out America’s national parks. Keeping them open during the shutdown makes them dangerous, filthy, and easier to seize.

Democrats have responded to Trump’s existential threats to American democracy exactly how you would expect from a party of cautious institutionalists: writing stern letters. Giving long speeches. Holding press conferences.

It's time to seek confrontation.
