Albanese must lead a strong response to the Boorloo Day of Mourning bomb attack.

After the horror at Bondi we saw that leadership on violence and racism is possible with political will.

The same urgency is needed on rising threats against First Peoples.

The Invasion Day rally in Boorloo/Perth was targeted and attacked with an explosive device.

The silence from the right has been deafening.

It is staggering how the two non-Jewish Australians murdered that day never get mentioned. They keep trying to insist on a “national” day of mourning, on tying this to Australian identity, while simultaneously making it explicitly about Israel—trying to use it to ban protests, and suppress dissent.
It was appropriate to have a day of mourning, but this language is very problematic in the context of Israel's actions and the political insistence on merging all Jews with that country as a unitary identity. And Minns' tie colour choice wasn't an accident.
