Thank you so much @cbarklaw.bsky.social for the package of ciders for #LawSummerSanta2025. Always fun to start the summer. So well received (if posted awfully late - my bad…). Will message if I’m in YOW until we manage to meet up 😉. 🎉 to @shawnbawden.bsky.social for continuing the tradition!

Perhaps this would more properly be characterized as "municipal official seized by individuals believed to be federal agents after being refused entry to private detention facility, operating without certificate of occupancy or building permit, in violation of stop work order."

The UCP’s treatment of Jasper proves they’re not just trying to meddle with local governments in Edmonton and Calgary. They think they can run a community better than any local government. The UCP will be vindictive and petty even in the most dire of situations.

Who knows who they’ll target next.

I have found myself surrounded by little notes, most of which say things on them like “buy kale”. What is going on here? 🤦‍♀️

If you want to see how much damage right-wing populist governments in Canada can do thru pettiness & sheer incompetence to the successful positioning of cities, research what Alberta’s UCP has done to Calgary’s C-Train Green Line, & Ontario’s PC Party has done to the Eglinton Crosstown & bike-lanes.

Today it's trans, tomorrow it's gay, the day after that it's "women who don't look fem enough to me" and "guys who talk about feelings."

It's about enforcing narrow gender roles. Always has been. If you participated in any of this, that's what you're endorsing.

Dear #yegtraffic, it’s time for your refresher on the Alberta traffic code. When any vehicle, such as a bicycle, is stopped at a 🛑 and you do not have a 🛑 of your own, it is contrary to the law to stop and wave them across. It’s also rude and unsafe. #yegbike

You don’t have to be a “cyclist” to support safe bike infrastructure in your city. You don’t have to ride bikes at all. You just have to understand the FACT that bike infrastructure makes getting around easier & safer for EVERYONE, saves us all public money, & makes cities generally more successful.

Writing about women is so often actually writing about men’s experiences of women, that until it reaches the level of parody, we don’t even notice.

Men have narratives, they come of age, age, look back; women *are* ages. Ingenue. Girl next door, Femme Fatale. Milf. Scenery. Landscape. Terrain.

This is my dog Topaz. It must be an old picture because he ate through that leash more than a year ago…

I’ll be on here with women in politics takes, in-house legal takes, raising kids, climate, transit and housing affordability. Based in Calgary, all times MT.

Stop holding back. Just start.
