This is true. It is so hard when their mistakes are costing so many everything. But it isn't helping to shame those who finally see things as they are.
People can learn from their mistakes. Don't ridicule them when they admit it. Help support the change, not stiffle it. That hurts more than it helps.

We finally got our letter. My son was one of the lucky cuss' who also got scholarship estimates. Was a bit excited with one that said "up to full tuition" but looking at the website, you have to be top 10% of class, hard to achieve at an academic magnet. Some schools like UTC...
Why don't I see a single news story about how Tennessee's new Direct Admissions pilot program is already behind schedule? Students from participating high schools were supposed to receive college offers in November. It is December and no offers.

The Book of Common Prayer--the prayer book of the Anglican/Episcopal Church--used to have prayers for executions. They were (foolishly, imo) removed. But executions still happen. One is scheduled here in Nashville tomorrow morning for a man I know. We call him Red because his hair was once red.

My wife, a prodigious sleep-talker, failed to disclose her affliction when we started dating, which led to the fright of my life the night she sat bolt upright in bed and in a low flat monotone loudly declared that “THIRTEEN BABIES REMAIN UNFATHERED.”

East Nashville, Early College, Hunters Lane, and Stratford were apparently left out. Sorry, guys. Someone has to be the guinea pigs when you're experimenting with kids' futures. But be glad you knew you had to apply because these delays may put the kids who thought they didn't have to behind.
Huh, my school is one of the 4 MNPS high schools that were supplanted by charters in the pilot. Sucks for our students. 7 charter high schools on the list--I wonder if that's all of them?

They quietly changed the website to the offers coming in December. No notification to families. I was worried and emailed our school's college counselor.
I really wonder if this is an unintended consequence of participating in direct admit. It may ultimately harm some students. I've had some concerns all along about this.
One more add. One of the schools included we're already admitted to. When we checked their site a few months ago, merit scholarships were automatic (same when oldest attended). Suddenly they require a separate application AND are limited. VERY concerning as we just found out & were COUNTING on them.

When my kids were little I counted the cost to vote when I knew we wouldn't win. Going to the polls exhausted after work, hungry kids fussing waiting line, buying Taco Bell for the whole fam--too late & tired to cook, pain meds for standing too long on bad joints, on single mom Metro salary...

Also worth noting that from the time literally George Washington was president to 2021, Nashville was one Congressional District.
