Nashvillian. Interested in Nashville politics, roller derby, reading, drinking strong black tea all day long. Got a new job so the disclaimer: opinions are my own, not my employer's, obviously.
I didn't appeal our property assessment because it seemed reasonable based on comps at the time, but comps now are less than I was assessed for. 😔

Your home may have lost value this year. Here’s where the drops were steepest
A major warning sign is flashing in the U.S. housing market: More than half of American homes have lost value over the past year, according to new data from Zillow.

Well, this is a waste of my time. They ignored my question, answered lots asked after mine, and spent 95% of the discussion on transportation rather than science. People need the science info FIRST before forming an opinion. 🦞
Here MNPS goes being unserious about this school start time thing, sending this text an hour before the meeting. This is the first notification I have seen.

I was glad that *finally* @freddieoconnell.bsky.social and MNPS are considering later high school start times until I saw the biased, poorly constructed survey sent out.

1. The earliest time question gives 7:50 AM as the latest response even though 8:30 AM is the earliest recommeded by experts.

Not sure how resigning makes a person magically non-partisan.

I hate how blue Nashville is forced to have a red election commission.

I do hope he is fair. It's not impossible to be fair and have strong feelings, but in today's climate, it raises alarm bells.
The Davidson County Election Commission voted Monday to name John Richardson the next elections administrator for Nashville. Until last week he was an active member of the TNGOP Executive Committee, a partisan position that gave pause to some commissioners.

As someone who grew up on a cattle ranch, Trump wouldn't last a day much less be a "fantastic farmer."😅

Unless we're using the traditional definition: "remote from reality"
His campaign site is live, with a lengthy launch video heavy on the farm talk, featuring his family and former Vikings star Jared Allen. “Trump woulda been a fantastic farmer,” Hatcher says in the video. charliehatcher.com

I didn't appeal our property appraisal because at the time it was below comps. Now nearly identical homes are on the market and have dropped their prices below our appraised value with no offers. I've lost home equity AND pay more taxes. And still don't get as much from the city as other USD hoods.🦞

Another mutual aid ask from me… things are bleak folks. Needing to raise $2000 to keep a single mom & her 3 kids in their housing. My various accounts have been restricted & flagged for fraud 😩 so we’re collecting the funds on the mom’s behalf on a different Venmo account: @KarenPolston

There's no good reason for the death penalty.

The only time I helped my kids participate in the official walk to school day, I stepped on a roadkill carcus, slid a good foot on its entrails, and spun around to regain my balance so I wouldn't (thank God) faceplant on its blood and guts.

Kids have it easy these days with clean sidewalks.
Happy Walk to School Day!

Re-watching Maude and it is really so good, Bea Arthur is stellar, Esther Rolle is under appreciated.

But Maude is supposed to be 47 here (Arthur was actually ~50) and Rue McClanahan was in her 30s!!!!!

My death row pen pal keeps saying that it is safer in there than out here and I'm the stubborn cuss who is just right now wondering if he could be on to something.

Mourn with those who mourn; rejoice with those who rejoice.

Here I am, posting so I can procrastinate finishing writing a paper for a class in a program I'm doubting I want to be in but felt I had to try because I somehow got a pretty much full scholarship.

Well, Metro Water shut off our entire neighborhood at midnight with no notice. I tried dry shampoo and baby wipes, still went out in public funky, and just want a damn shower. I have to travel for a funeral tomorrow and can't go another day without one. I hate it here. 😢 🦞

What? Proactive?
My old neighborhood begged for a stop sign. "Not needed" then a neighbor died and we got one.
Nashville ain't ever been proactive.
Scary intersection to enter my new neighborhood and I KNOW someone will have to die there. Hope it isn't one of my kids who came damn close once.

Which begs the question, if Jesus could read (because some scholars argue he couldn't), would he have had access to a library? Would any Jew in that place/time? Would it have involved Roman baths or other such things?
Did you know that some of the Roman baths had libraries in them????

I know they tell you not to deep read in grad school, but "they" missing all the good stuff.

How is it that we got a Ross a few days ago and it is already pure chaotic mess that looks like weeks and eerks of understaffing and has lines to the back of the store?

I highly recommend assigning the chore of grocery shopping to your teenage son.

It is going better than I ever could have predicted.

Anyone know of any Nashville places hiring teens? My son has had no luck.

South side would be ideal, but he can drive. 🦞

I've recently put him in charge of grocery shopping and it has been great. Such a time saver for us and he does a great job.

If your restuarant has a 45+ minute wait on a regular basis you should be required by law to take reservations.
