If I’m understanding these ppl correctly, all it takes to deter lethal and sexual violence is an almost-never-enforced $2.00 cover charge?

That seems like a far more efficient solution to crime than Musk’s Personal Robot Stalker.
"The more-than-300 comments responding to that anonymous post are full of mothers looking for property in New Jersey or Florida, predicting that Mamdani’s promise to make buses free will lead criminals to rape and kill innocent passengers."

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

Schumer had a chance to repudiate the gutter racism and Islamophobia of Cuomo's campaign and he just fucking didn't. And that is disqualifying. He should be ashamed and we the voters should make sure he feels that shame.
Reporter: Today is election day in New York City. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: Look, I voted. And I look forward to working with the next mayor to help New York City.

Also - this talk is all very rich considering it’s coming from people who kvetch for a living.
it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops

Granted there are no real specifics but the model it seems like he’s proposing - decision-making and accountability remain with the Mayor, while other structures provide input and transparency - is a proven and effective good-governance model.

It’s worth considering how an Andrew Cuomo mayoralty would objectively be a disaster and everybody knows it—especially his backers. But they don’t give a shit about the day after, only thwarting the rise of any potential alternative. A striking demonstration of the nihilism of the political centre.

Zohran Mamdani will never be to a "mainstream Jewish institution" because any institution that hosts Zohran will cease being "mainstream" in the judgment of the self-appointed guardians of the term. Funny how that works.
Greenblatt of the ADL is using a classic "no true Scotsman" fallacy here - if Mamdani speaks to Jews, they aren't real Jews by definition of speaking to Mamdani, hence there is no way for Mamdani to actually meet with Jews. The ADL gets to be the sole arbiter of Jewishness in the US.
