From a more practical perspective or a realist one, the Canadian military is highly skilled/competent. All their general officers/flag officers (GO/FOs) go through our senior leader colleges & a large number have held GO assignments in I, III, V, or XVIII ABN Corps, & at all combatant commands. 1/
At some point, Canada is going to start responding to the "51st state" threats by noting that they're open to talking to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington and Alaska about becoming Canada's cherished 11th province
