One of the reasons the establishment was pushing so hard for Cuomo in the primary was that his win was supposed to prove Me Too was over. There were several victory lap columns declaring this before he lost. They desperately want women not to matter and they will lose and lose
mamdani is human. he'll fuck up and fail, especially with a hostile press and the giant mess that is nyc's politics. but today is a great day for the brave women who told what cuomo did, and for those of us who care that it should matter. that power shouldn't go to those who hurt the poweless.
I'm happy that Mamdani won. But I won't let that get in the way of my celebrating Cuomo losing.

you can win without billionaires supporting you

you can win without party leadership endorsing you

you can win unapologetically standing with every persecuted minority pundits say are too politically toxic to touch

we could do everything about this process differently if we wanted to
Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

People fucking hate this guy. They fucking hate ICE. They fucking hate how much power he has. He is at 63% overall disapproval to 37% approval. That's lower than their poll after January 6th. And this poll was done before he started intentionally starving people. I wish our media would reflect this.

Awful loss. Teen Vogue’s political reporting has often been unflinching and exemplary. Hope to see these excellent journalists find new venues for their work, but hate to lose their combined efforts.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

The Kimmel suspension is a much bigger deal than you know.

It's really about a growing alliance between Trump and the companies that own America's local TV stations - like Nexstar - to turn local TV into Trump propaganda.

1/ Let me tell you the short story. It's chilling.

This the point of the DIY society they've been trying to build since Reagan. Leave people so overwhelmed with the task of managing day-to-day risks and responsibilities that they have almost no choice but to accept whatever disinformation you subject them to.

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.

This gets the story wrong on a fundamental level because it assumes DOGE was about what Musk claimed.

DOGE was about stealing data, getting Musk contracts, shutting down investigations and regulations of Musk’s companies, and terrorizing federal workers. On that front, it succeeded.
“Musk came to Washington all Cybertrucks and chain saws, ready to destroy the bureaucracy,” write Ashley Parker and Michael Scherer. But as he winds down his service, “he has found himself isolated within the upper reaches of the Trump administration”: https://theatln.tc/ckySMUOS
